just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

I think the use of color, and the lack of color, in this image is meant to provoke the idea that the ones who leave have a sense of nostalgia about that wonderful place they left behind.

The woman is in color - which places her in the present. And the rest of the image is in neutral grey tone, which evokes the sense of it being in the past. The KH image, in its muted grey tones, not even any black, is meant to represent the blue lady's memory, her past she left behind.

The little girl on the chair is her - the blue lady as a child. Surrounded by loving family members...inside a Kingdom Hall.

The WT wants the JWs who are still in to believe that those who have left, like the blue lady, look back and miss that idyllic memory.

This is a strong image. The WT uses visual language in a very calculated way.

as the bad conduct of the governing body becomes widely known to both judge and jury i expect that will make lawsuits more profitable against them and easier wins against them and more plentiful.. i think probably one of the most damming videos out there on the net is the one where the parents show their loyalty to the wt corporation and shun their own flesh and blood in obedience to it cruel directives.

this video truely shows that the governing body don't give a shit about the children who symbolize their dedication to the corporation or their parents.. such a self serving corporation that uses it members for profits only and offer nothing in return no matter how much how much they claim otherwise.

they can't hide this it is plain as day so no matter how much they claim they are concerned about the youth in the organization their action thunder loudly and can not be hiden under a basket.

This video is so twisted I don't even know where to start.

Seriously twisted thinking - to portray themselves as "loving", and stand up there so fucking self-righteous, so self-sacrificing...when in reality, they just sacrificed their child. And called it "love".

That isn't love. That is brutal self-preservation.

The insanity and brutality of what she is saying astounds me.

She says she would die for her children...but, if the child breaks the WTS' rules, she would not be there. Instead - she "kills" the child rather than dying herself. Because that is what disfellowshipping is - it is a symbolic "stoning to death".

Talk about a fucked way of viewing the world. Those parents are sacrificing their children for their own survival. And calling it "love".

"...and they so loved themselves that they gave up their own son so that the WTS could live..." I bet you won't find that in the Bible. But they believe that their god did that - sacrificed his own son.

Well...I said it before and I will say it again:

You can call it a tuna fish sandwich if you like, but if it is black and has four legs, walks low to the ground with a white stripe down its back...it's a skunk.

after all, "at this time,over 13,000 kingdom hall projects and 35 assembly hall projects are needed worldwide.".

hmmm, not too sure about that but all the recent re-branding seems to be heading .

could this be the long game?

The WTS' selling of KHs and restructuring is being controlled by what the taxman is telling them to do.

KHs are assets - the taxman doesn't like nonprofits to hold too much in assets or in reserve funds. The WTS is being forced to change how they operate their business model so that they can retain their tax free status.

Tax reforms are being implemented in many countries - Canada and the US and the UK and Australia...maybe others - and the way that the WTS has conducted business to this point has caught the eye of internal revenue agencies. The WTS had made too much money and the taxman is going after it.

Tax free status is critical to the WTS - without it, they will go bankrupt.

the gb moved to patterson and are conducting business from there, right?

they are not printing as much literature as they once were and they are still operating walkill for the magazines...er a ....pamphlets.

Oppostate, it only took me about 30 seconds to find the original image online.

If you run into this again, it is easy to check out image sources.

Just go to the google search page, click on images, and then, in the image search bar, click on the camera to the right of the bar. A box will come up...paste the image URL into the box...and voila! Google search will show where the image appears on other sites.

It is a photoshopped mage.

Jehovah's chariot has been added to the image as well as the Bible Teach book on the coffee counter. And the JW..org badge. too, that one of the ladies is wearing..

Cart Witnessing - Thrilling! Productive! Epic! Er.....um, well, not so much.....

talked with a pioneer recently, she was recounting her first experience with cart witnessing.. she brought the subject up, was going on & on & on & on about how wonderful the experience was, and how great, and how she enjoyed it so much, and it was so wonderful, and oh jehovah's blessing, and on and on and on...... a few questions to her revealed what really happened:.

-- a jw who owns a small restaurant in a strip mall allows jws to set up their cart outside his restaurant.

-- the restaurant is tucked pretty far out of the way, not prominent at all.

The cart witnessing is connected to tax free status and the requirements of nonprofit management.

By introducing cart witnessing, the WTS has created a measureable, documented body of volunteers that they can claim as "in kind" donations. The application form is a 'measurable' form that meets the requirements for those volunteer hours to qualify as a 'charitable donation' on their books.

The results of that volunteer workforce is less important than the work happening in a measurable, organized way.

The WTS has to keep up the appearance of being a nonprofit and the cart witnessing is one of the ways that they are able to give that impression. Their tax free status depends upon it.

Canada Branch Finances - What's Going On?

an update on the canada branch hasn't been made (i think).. year-over-year, canada's equity decreased by 11 million in 2012, 17 million in 2013.. however, the 2014 report shows a huge increase (20 million) in the cost of "purchased supplies.

" with the shrinkage of the mags, and the push to online, how the heck did this go from 39 million to 58 million?.

even with this number, the equity in 2014 went down by a staggering 56 million.. what the heck is going on?.

Yes, Tim, the doctrinal and structural changes are always about the money.

Even the change in blood fractions was likely due to pressure from the outside and not some 'revelation' or 'new understanding'.

I totally agree. The changes in the blood doctrine are absolutely connected to money - the blood transfusion ban makes lots of money for the WTS. They won't drop it - they have created a perpetual money machine from that one.

The WTS has far too much invested in the bloodless industry to let the blood transfusion ban go. What would happen to all those JWs who work in the field of bloodless medicine if they dropped that ban? What would the WTS do without all those valuable donations that 'bloodless' JW doctors, nurses, administrators, etc, give to them?

I could go on about the WTS connections to bloodless medicine and their investments in that field...but...this thread is about tax. And the WTS' financial maneuvers to keep ahead of the tax man.

It is rather ironic that the WTS' recent push for donations makes it appear that they are in desperate need of cash. They are and they aren't. They need the cash - but it is so they can protect all that money and property they have. Without donations, all of their assets are in jeopardy - they could lose their tax free status. And then the Tower would fall.

Their appeal for donations is an appeal for a defense of their holdings. Their mistake has been to be too profitable and the taxman has an eye on all their wealth. The taxman is coming after them big time. Like Al Capone, evading tax will be their downfall. When you worship money, you worship a god that will bite you on the ass.
