You should do that. Your music has to sound much better than the cookie cutter pop music we are being handed today mostly because Clear Channel owns so many radio stations. They own six stations here. They also handle most tour promotions. Neil Young had a billboard with Clear Channel and Support Our War on it in the film part of his Greendale Concert. Everyone here in Grand Rapids booed Clear Channel; Neil was very pleased by that.

The no sex thing: I don't recall that ever being said. Most people I knew were looking forward to having children in the new system. Some couple were even waiting for the new system to have kids. Where did you all hear the no sex thing?I never thought there wouldn't be sex. And for the brothers to say that only those living through Armegeddon would be able to marry sounded like bull to me. Why? Because very few people would be able to have sex and you know what kind of riot that would start.

I figured God would help us out there with some tools. Then I figured that people who were resurrected would have vast knowledge of how to make things and do it better and in a more beautiful way than electric machines. I figured we'd feel great, have tons of robust energy and we would not feel pressured to do things so quickly because of the 1000 years time frame we were going to be working in. I had an answer for most any problem people could bring up.
But....I was miserable in my marriage to the wrong person. I couldn't imagine being married to him forever. I felt we were horribly suited for each other. If you had told me five years ago that I'd be divorced and have new much better love I'd have thought you were a dreamer. It's not a dream though. It's a miracle.

Wow, I must have missed the meeting or magazine the NO SEX part was in. I never heard that we wouldn't be having sex except for the anointed who went to heaven and lived as the angels and didn't marry. I never believed that those resurrected on the earth wouldn't get married.
I think what I was going to miss were the billions of people who died at Armegeddon. I thought of so many nice people I knew and musicians I liked, etc. not getting to be there. I didn't like that idea. I thought it would be a serious waste of love and talent and so on.
I believed the new system was going to be great but the final test was what had me scared. You know, the one you would fail and then die the second death.

i've just recently entered into (another) karaoke contest.
i've been in quite a few, but have never placed first despite the fact that i can usually wow an audience.
the thing is, i've mostly seen women win these things.

My guy has won two contests. One he won with Burning Down The House, the Talking Heads song. The other he won doing Sweet Transvestite from The Rockie Horror Picture Show. I saw him do it one night and was blown away so I bought him the RHPS CD.
The women who came in second place in those contests? One of them sang a Judds song, Have Mercy. She has one of the most professional voices I have heard. Very talented.
The second show a young college girl won 2nd with Allison Krause's When You Say Nothing At All. The lady who sang the Judds song didn't even place. The girl who won second sounded TERRIBLE but she was sweet and adorable so she placed second. The lady who didn't place is not that attractive. The sad thing is that the girl who placed 2nd is going to go around thinking she can sing when in fact she's painful to listen to.

Thank you, Prisca. I'm shaking my head. I guess I need to remember that JWs are human and they don't stop being human when they leave. I was one once, too. Very sobering post though.

I think Simon meant that you won't always know if you are having a nervous breakdown but your friends might. I don't think Simon meant to do anything but help in his own way.
Having been through a meltdown myself from too much stress, when I was still in the org. I will say though, that often times you do know something is terribly wrong because you will feel "like you are going crazy" and you will not be able to cope with the slightest demands. Putting your feet over the edge of the bed to touch the floor will seem overwhelming. It's something that will last, too. It won't go away in a few hours or days without help. A nervous breakdown is serious and profound. It's not just blues or anxiety or depression even, it's those three to the 100th power. If you find yourself sliding in this direction then please get some help even it's only through a support group, possibly through your local mental health department.

When you have so many things pile up on you that you cannot carry them anymore, then you fall flat on your face and cannot get up or cope or function, it's a breakdown. Then I have heard that people who totally lose touch with reality are having breakdowns, too. If you see yourself or someone headed that way then see a doctor or read and educate yourself.
If it's you then start helping yourself by talking about this with caring people and casting off burdons in your life that are too heavy if that's possible. Stress can have a cumulative effect. It can snowball and knock you flat.
