I don't remember the most recent one but I remember the morbid subject discussed multiple times in the past...sometimes gleefully. Weird subject.
My mother seemed fascinated by the subject. Hitchcock's classic movie "The Birds" got her going for months. Birds and the wild beasts of the field would do most the work.
At one time Watchtower said Anti matter would do the work. lol.

I remember the "pioneer meeting" when the Circuit overseer came to town. Made your 100 hrs...not good enough! Perhaps your Bible Studies, book placements, Back Calls, Magazine placements, or subscriptions were below the national average for pioneers. The Serve US Watchtower Bible and Tract Society Publishing Corporation.
Same BS at Bethel. 40 hrs of volunteer work...nope, not good enough. 44 hours minimum requirement, plus one 8-hour night shift as a watchman or performing all night service department backlog tasks, plus one Sunday per month in the kitchen. PLUS all congregation duties and 10 hrs of field service usually on Sunday. You Worthless slave/sinner!
My overloaded ASS with the heavy load was how I felt for 50 years. No light yoke for JWs.
Heavy loads for the flock but not for the the GB jet set!

The A train runs the length of Manhattan under the river through Brooklyn out to Rockaway. The stops changed over the years. Express vs local gets confusing. Zipping along underground with all the filth, crowds, and crazies can be disorienting.
When I visited New York City for work, and Bethel friends in later years, I was glad to use cabs!

lol SilentBuddaha, my first room was at 124 Columbia Heights. Sister De Checka was next door, GB member Dan Sydlick and Marina one more door away. Dan wandered into my room an hour after I arrived, "What are you doing not at work" I just got here....oh. Smiling, I asked him..."What are YOU doing off work?" ( I didn't yet know what the GB members looked like). Where you from? San Francisco...his eyes rolled. Later that day in the community bathroom he commented on my souvenir bathrobe/kimono from Hawaii "You plan on wearing THAT here?" Sure it was a cool gift. More eye rolls. He was my weekend table head...and I sat next to him and Marina. We talked frequently and I enjoyed bantering with him the whole time "Is THAT in the Bible" and watching Marina laugh. He asked me to shave my mustache and side burns...smiling, I said "I don't want people to think I'm gay"...Marina chuckled...steam came out his ears. Hell, I was working for free...he could demote or fire me...if they could replace me. I would simply go home to nicer surroundings and better pay. Memories. :)

Memories...
Spreading my monthly $17 per month to make the round trip to my hall outside Bed Stye (where the fires never die).
Wouldn't work now...each ride is $3. lol. After getting mugged by a crowd one summer night for my watch...I dared to complain to a long time Bethelite "This isn't safe". He replied "Our hope is in the resurrection." ughh.
Memories...staying on the A train too.. long and getting off the train in Harlem one night alone. One kindly passerby suggested "Son, get right back on the train" seeing my puzzled Irish face on a Harlem St corner. :)
Take the A train....just not too long. :)

Brooklyn Heights Hotel to be Turned Into Homes
The Hotel Bossert, a storied hotel on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, was sold to SomeraRoad, a New York City and Nashville-based real estate investment and development firm.BK Reader StaffMay 31, 2025 10:00 AMJun 2, 2025 9:20 AmPhoto: Supplied/Jim.henderson via Wikimedia Commons
The Hotel Bossert, a storied hotel on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, was sold to a real estate company that plans to convert the hotel into modern homes.
SomeraRoad, a New York City and Nashville-based real estate investment and development firm, said it plans to "honor the property’s rich history and restore and reopen the building as residences."
Ian Ross, the founder and managing principal of SomeraRoad, is a Brooklyn resident and "deeply committed to this project," the firm said.
The Bossert, dubbed as the "Waldorf-Astoria of Brooklyn" was originally built in 1909 by a lumber magnate as a state-of-the-art accommodation for both transient and permanent guests.
One of its biggest draws was its Marine Roof rooftop restaurant that resembled a two-tiered promenade deck of a ship, with 360-degree views of Brooklyn and Manhattan. As the hotel was home to several Brooklyn Dodgers during the 1950s, many fans came to the hotel to celebrate after the Dodgers beat the Yankees to win the World Series in 1955.
In the late 80s, the building was owned by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, a corporation part of the Jehovah's Witnesses, and then was purchased by the Chetrit family in 2019. The building was sold via auction to Beach Point Capital Management in early 2025, according to public records, before it was passed on to SomeraRoad."

Can someone remind me the reason's you could be disfellowshipped?
by SydBarrett inthe only reasons i can remember are smoking, sexual immorality and of course, apostasy.
there must be others but having been out since 1990, i'm drawing a blank.
i was thinking perhaps serious criminal offenses that result in prison, but then i remembered a brother in my congregation in the 1980's who went to prison.

Weird cases I know of.
A sister who wanted to be "free" campaigned and pushed to get her husband disfellowshipped for a therapeutic massage....the masseuse "touched" his butt...he argued about it and was disfellowshipped for being disorderly.
A single JW sister was seen publicly riding her bicycle alongside a "worldly" single man. Disfellowshipped for walking disorderly-dating out of the truth.
A new JW kid was disfellowshipped for masturbating.
Another JW kid for "acts of lying".
Ray Franz had lunch with his Boss, an ex JW, and was disfellowshipped for it.
Sue a JW...or Watchtower= instant disfellowshipping.
+ Anything 3 elders can agree on....especially if they don't like you.

The Governing Body is Restructuring the Org.and encouranging young ones to REACH OUT!
by liam inthe governing body just doesn't let up on encouraging the young children to reach out to do free labor for the organization.
so another generation of young people with ruined lives.
another generation of young people that will get old and wake up in their 50s to realize they were in a religious doomsday cult.. and they are getting rid of some old workers that ran the branches of the organization, and giving them different assignments or maybe they are just sending them home, who knows.

Admonishment to the Governing Body of the Watch Tower Society By - YHWH
by EisMe inadmonishment to the governing body of the watch tower society.
to the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses: you have presented yourselves as god’s appointed messengers, yet nowhere in scripture does god declare your authority as his chosen representatives.
by falsely claiming divine appointment, you have led many into spiritual bondage, deceiving them into believing you alone have the truth.. misuse of donated labor & financial deception.
