heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

from their depictions in ancient myth (that are brought to life on the silver screen in modern retellings) to the less-sensational, yet stirring biopics of sometimes seemingly mythical, but actual flesh and blood persons who have helped shape our world, there is certainly no shortage of heroic women and men.

chances are, however, that it is the unsung hero that has likely had the most impact on our lives.

^^^ none of this has anything to do with gay, lesbian or bisexual people. Trans and intersex people should be a separate group. Gay, lesbian and bisexual people are cis-gender, so they have more in common with the heterosexual majority.

There should be two groups: LGBH (lesbian, gay, bisexual and heterosexual) and T & I (trans and intersex).

As for Trump planning to overturn same-sex marriage ... really?! That really is a first world problem ...

I also live in the UK and Cofty is pretty much spot on.

AFAIK, the situation for homosexual people in the US is very similar to the one in western Europe.

@Expanded-Mind, in what sense is the fight for gay rights and equality still a pressing issue in the US?

Stonewall did much good, once upon a time.

But now, as Cofty suggests, the fight for equality and acceptance is over, making Stonewall redundant in the West.

However, Stonewall *could* advocate for sexual freedoms in other countries and regimes around the globe.

There are 11 countries that currently punish consensual gay sex with the death penalty. I suggest Stonewall start from there ...

people on vacation are mysteriously dying or getting violently ill. i’ve been there three times in the past.

But there are other Caribbean islands you could go to instead - as long as you do your research.

I've been to St Lucia once before and that was very good.

Do You For The Most Part Trust The News Media?

the media is very powerful.

many news people just want to get a scoop even if their breaking story isn’t checked out for accuracy.

some journalists are precise and double check whatever they are reporting.

What we see today is flecks of truth in all types of media - right-wing, left-wing, social, etc.

Then it's up to us to compare different media outlets' take on stuff and work out what happened.

Media do not usually make claims they know are false.

Instead, they often lie through omission - i.e. they leave out certain news stories that don't fit their narrative. The Guardian is notorious for this.
