so, i've already posted stuff about the 2008 film of the same title, directed by tomas alfredson.. i rate that film very highly, so i thought i'd treat myself over the xmas holidays with the novel by john ajvide lindqvist.
the book is a lot darker in some aspects - the film sensibly tones down the paedophile desires and exploits of haakan, the girl vampire's carer.
nobody wants to see that kind of stuff on screen.
So, I finished reading Let The Right One In about three weeks after I bought it. Yeah, it's great.
I really wanted to know what happened to Oskar and Eli so I bought Let The Old Dreams Die which is a collection of short stories. The title story, Let The Old Dreams Die, hints at what becomes of the pair. Eli and Oskar mix their blood and therefore Oskar becomes a vampire. Awww, how sweet 🥰
But seriously John Ajvide Lindqvist is a great writer as far as I can tell. 👍

What you said may seem harsh to some gullible liberal folk but there's some truth in it.
First, Crimea has lots of Russian speakers, plenty of whom are aligned with Moscow. That's just a fact.
Second, there are plenty of Russian-speaking people in Donbas who are also aligned with Moscow.
Third, Russia never lost a war in 1991 but was treated by The West as if it had lost one. This is perhaps the worst thing of all that The West has done in this situation. Moscow has every right to be alarmed as NATO spreads east, with the US putting nuclear weapons in far-off places such as Estonia and Romania.
As Putin has asked: who or what is NATO aiming at?!

i used to have a large-ish novel collection but my current collection is scaled-down because i was forced to move back to bolton 4 years ago and didn't have enough room for them all in my suitcases.. i currently own just 9 novels.. salem's lot (stephen king).

@TonusOH - a vampire novel (or at least a novel with a vampire in it) that I strongly recommend is Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I love the film, too. The novel is particularly dark but it's fantastic. Some passages are difficult to read, but at its core it is a love story between a bullied 12 year old kid and a 200 year old vampire who looks like a girl.
