  Becase different groups are always going to have different strengths and weaknesses. Asians are good at math but don't seem to drive very well.

  This was the offending statement that was brought up.

  Teens in Japan, Korea, parts of China, etc. do better on standardized math tests than U.S. teens, who rank in the bottom half of the world. That is the factual statement.

  "Asians do better in math" directly following "because different groups are always going to have different strengths and weaknesses" in response to a post about race does not read like the above. It reads like a racial stereotype. It's obvious to see why people would take it as such.

  sammie, you and simon can keep living in your world were you believe Asians are biologcially determined to be poor drivers and better at math and African Americans are....whatever you think African Americans are biologically determined to be relative to whites and other races.

  I'm amazed by some of the comments here, and completely disheartened and saddened by it - but it definitely puts prior opinions and comments in this and other discussions in a new light.

  I wonder if you are one of the creationists or athiests on this board.

  Anybody who is athiest should have no problem believing races would not be equal in everything. Since they would believe everything about everybody are no different than animals, it would equate to saying all breeds of dogs are equal in everything and or denying that dogs can be breed to be more aggressive or more playful, etc, depending on traits.

  With cultures seperated by thousands+ of years, brains could develop differently, personality traits passed down, etc.

  THAT is science.

  Race is not a scientific categorization. It is a categorization created centuries ago by European colonization to identify people, and has since has been dismissed as nonsensical. It has lasted only as a visual social categorization that people hold on to, which shifts over time (for instance, the Irish, of all people, weren't viewed as white in the United States until relatively recently).

  What if science proved you wrong? Do you get to cherry pick which science or scientist you decide to agree with because it is rooted in your own personal idealogy? The real world including science is filled with differences - including the scientific community who have reported on genetic differences many times, even when it hasn't been popular to do so.

  Please name some of these differences along racial lines.

  You are trying to "prove" that the officer killed MB unfairly. I think that has been debunked now by the justice system.

  No I did not. I posted a) facts from the case to show why many, including many lawyers and prosecuters, are let down by how the justice system handled this case, and b) facts from the case that show the gradual escalation and alternate options, which make people believe that deadly force should not have been used. You literally took the facts out of the post, to make it look like my claims were not supported by anything, and are now retelling the narrative.
  
  I'm hoping this was just a case of mis-comprehending what was said as opposed to deliberate censure.
  
  Also, Asians as a whole are not better at math nor do they drive worse, the former is a debunked stereotype, and the latter is an unsourced stereotype. That's what turned Lisa off from your responses - you're repeating racial stereotypes as statements of fact.

  No, that is completely wrong and misleading.

  Refer to the post I made about what is and isn't acceptable if you want to discuss that case. When things have been determined by the coourt then you don't get to try and create an alternate reality to suit your own world outlook.

  This is completely wrong, and fortunately, multiple people saw the posts before you deleted them.
  
  I quoted multiple things from the officer's own testimony, and from police testimony, etc. to show why people in the area did not think it was fair, edit, or to show why people felt deadly force was not warranted. You deleted the entire post(s) and then misrepresented the post(s) to make it look like I said that people involved were racist, which was not stated once or even came close to being implied.
  
  As stated, put the posts back (you should be able to hit "back" enough times to copy/paste and reverse the process with most forum software), highlight what you think "re-interpreted the case" according to your own rules/post, and I will source every single thing you say offends that policy.

  Pacopoolio: If I could summarize your argument it's that children are affected by influences as they grow up and it's these influences that affect their beliefs and through those beliefs their behaviors and outcomes in life.

  That seems reasonable.

  Now you also seem to believe that positive or negative portrayals of black people on TV is one of the most significant factors in this development. I would suggest that has not been an issue since the late 70s and certainly is far from true now. Black kinds are not brought up in a modern-day Trueman Show where they don't know the world around them.

  It seems like there is a parenting problem within the community with many kids being brought up in fairly mixed up circumstances, possibly by their grandparents or without a father and if they have a father a higher chance than many other cultures that they will use physically violence as punishment - something shown to cause violent and anti-social behavior later in life.

  Isn't it just possible that these things could have a much greater influence on their development and future than whether the cosby show is on TV or not?

  Why is looking inward considered such an awful thing to suggest?

  In what era were the parents you speak of children? Why are you ignoring THEIR development?
