hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.

i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.

i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

Frankly, WT scholars are not that interested in trying to harmonize Neo-Babylonian chronology.

Doesnt 607 mean a little bit to your doctrines?

At best we have 624 for the beginning of the dynasty which ends in 539, a span of some 84 years.

Is 624 important to harmonize your doctrine?

The regnal data for this period is not reliable

Then 624 is not reliable.

but you can try to fill in the pieces yourself using what data is available in our publications

Your publications are not reliable and do not fill in the gaps. Thats why Im asking you to do it.

We are more interested in the biblical reigns and those pagan reigns that intersect biblical history.

Not by the emphasis the Wt puts on Nebuchadnezzars reign

If the Babylonian gap cannot be filled by means of WT research then that is too bad. Too bad.

This is my point you need the date of 607 not me, and it cannot even by reconciled by your own literature.

The simple fatct is that you do not have a complete chronology of the OT and you do not have a complete chronology for the reigns of kings for the Divided Monarchy in Israel and Judah.
What you do have is a chronology for the Neo-Babylonian period only.

Huh? You have presuppositions that my secular "kings list" years of reign is wrong. Im simply asking that you give your neo-Babylonian kings list with years of rule to help me better understand your position.

Is it that hard to understand? 625-------539 now you fill in the gap with kings and years of rule.

Forget GTR and all the little details that are disputed.

Futher it is my belief that you cannot do the above. Because it cannot be done with WT information.

Advantages to being a JW

i'd say that the biggest advantage of being a jw is that you learn the bible.

growing up a jw (never baptized), i had many friends (mostly catholic) who didn't even know where most books of the bible were even located.

jws really do learn and study the bible and this knowledge becomes very helpful once you start looking at the bible more objectively and not with wts binders.

But I'm saying I didn't know the Bible with any thoroughness. I couldn't have given you a good outline of the history of Israel. I didn't have any reasonable understanding of, for example, the book of Romans, in which Paul outlines the means of salvation and explains God's grace. I had no idea as to the historical-grammatical method of Bible interpretation - didn't need to, since all interpretation was spoon-fed by the organization.

My point exactly. The JW cannot think outside the wt box or for themselves. They never give their own answer. Have you ever seen a witness give an indepth answer without referencing a wt book?

Then make the WT neo- kings list work. From 625bc to 539bc.

But, I know you will not, because like the Tower its just smoke and mirrors. And you will be exposed further than you are now.

The sadest part about this thread, in my humple opinion, is that it appears to basically have nothing whatsoever to do with chronology.

Your right it doesnt. Does the average jw have the 607 mess explained to them in this way? No they dont the average jw just swallows the mothers milk.

Just say the newbie jw asks' jw scholar a question at the hall one day, like what is the kings order of reign from 625bc to 539 bc? Scholar cannot and will never give a comphensive knigs list because it will show where-in his deception lies. Period.

Neo-Babylonian Chronology and the Egibi Business House

all this information is contained in carl olof jonsson's excellent book, the gentile times reconsidered, 4th edition, pages 122-125.. .

it turns out that throughout the neo-babylonian time frame, a business firm named the sons of egibi conducted business, and left some three or four thousand record tables contained in earthen jars covered with bitumen.. .

the wife and i just got back from the kingdom hall this afternoon.

some of you may recall that said we would be going back today for a memorial of a close friend of the family.

so i thought i would share the experience.. i have to start out by saying just getting ready to go was interesting.

My jw grandmother 91 yo passed in aug 04 the funeral was at a Funeral parlor. It was errie to hear that she had hoped for "paradise" after she will awaken from her death sleep. And my family and I knowing that its all a lie. Very sad.
