  DO NOT be a doormat. Assert yourself. Stand up for yourself. People may talk behind your back, but to your face they'll be nice and deep inside they will respect you. I've learned not to take crap off inlaws, coworkers, kids or neighbors. I have become a force to reckoned with. Not a bitch though. And you know what? My boyfriend says it's hot. He loves it when I stand up and say what needs to be said. One thing I let my boyfriend's family know, after one bitchy aunt ruined Christmas for us, I would not be spending Christmas at her house again. I tell people, "If you want the privilege of my company, you better treat me with respect. I put up with enough in my life. I've learned I don't have to put up with it anymore."

  Your kids sound older. When my four year old grandson reacts to everything with shrill screams, I spank his little tush. It works.

  A wee bit old to spank! !7 1/2, 16, and 11. And bf's is 10. Im a wus when it comes to standing up for myself, with family members. Others I can. But my bf's daugher will be there, and she is 25. She said she would go strait up to them and put them in line! (which is cool)

  And the same again, or equivalent, for everybody else. You're all getting on each other's nerves, don't know how to prevent it, and you all need to find the reset button.

  When my son was a baby and were having a day when we couldn't stand each other, I'd drop him off at a friend's house and go to the library or something for a couple hours. Everything was sweet as honey when we got back.

  Oh you poor darling, def need to take time out for yourself. My 3 yr old and my fiance butt heads all the time, sometimes i literally just have to walk away. Let us know how the party went.
