My son will be 9 tomorrow and we celebrated his first b-day yesterday!

    Well, I'm glad that he enjoyed his birthday celebration.

    Just because once or twice in the bible they mention bad things happening on a birthday doesn't mean that it's bad...

    Isn't it fun! Congratulations on the freedom. I'm in my 50's and love celebrating my birthday; bring on the cake!

    We'd like it to be fun and I think outside assistance will be necessary for that to happen :)

    That's exactly what I did. One of my best friends is df'd and has been celebrating her's and her children's birthdays for years, so I enlisted her and another non-JW friend to help me plan it. I didn't know when to sing happy birthday or when to cut the cake. It was funny! I know now, though.

    Yeah, I too remember singing "Happy Birthday" for the first time and how awkward that felt. Now I belt it out louder than any one present. And let me tell you, Im a terrible singer.

    Thats great. We just celebrated my sons first birthday as well. He turned 12. We will celebrate my daughters first on Dec. 3. she will be 15.
