    Ever read a poem that in a deep, profound way makes you think of the person you are hopelessly in love with?

    Post a poem that makes you think of your loved one...wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend.....I'll start:

    [somewhere i have never travelled]

    by ee cummings

     somewhere i have never travelled,gladly beyond any experience,your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which i cannot touch because they are too near your slightest look easily will unclose me though i have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully,mysteriously) her first rose or if your wish be to close me,i and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility: whose texture compels me with the color of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing (i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens; only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody,not even the rain, has such small hands

    perhaps i am falling out of love :

    Leaning Into The Afternoons

    Leaning into the afternoons I cast my sad nets
    towards your oceanic eyes.

    There in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames,
    its arms turning like a drowning man's.

    I send out red signals across your absent eyes
    that smell like the sea or the beach by a lighthouse.

    You keep only darkness, my distant female,
    from your regard sometimes the coast of dread emerges.

    Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets
    to that sea that is thrashed by your oceanic eyes.

    The birds of night peck at the first stars
    that flash like my soul when I love you.

    The night gallops on its shadowy mare
    shedding blue tassels over the land.

    STRAY CAT
    by Francis Witham

    Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
    Has brought you homeless to my gate?
    The gate where once another stood
    To beg for shelter, warmth, and food
    For from that day I ceased to be
    The master of my destiny.

    While he, with purr and velvet paw
    Became within my house the law.
    He scratched the furniture and shed
    And claimed the middle of my bed.

    He ruled in arrogance and pride
    And broke my heart the day he died.
    So if you really think, oh Cat,
    I'd willingly relive all that
    Because you come forlorn and thin
    Well...don't just stand there...Come on in!

    With My Forehead
    With my forehead against the pane as a vigil of sorrow
    Sky whose night I have overtaken
    Tiny plains in my open hands
    In their double horizon indifferent language

    With my forehead against the pane as a vigil of sorrow
    I search for you beyond expectation
    Beyond myself
    I love you so much that I no longer know
    Which one of us is absent.

    [Here's one of my favorites ... also by e.e. cummings. -- love, Nick]
    i like my body when it is with your
    body. It is so quite a new thing.
    Muscles better and nerves more.
    i like your body. i like what it does,
    i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
    of your body and its bones, and the trembling
    -firm-smooth ness and which i will

    again and again and again
    kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,

    i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
    of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
    over parting flesh . . . . And eyes big love-crumbs,

    and possibly i like the thrill
    of under me you quite so new

    Love Without Hope

    Love without hope, as when the young bird-catcher
    Swept off his tall hat to the Squire's own daughter,
    So let the imprisoned larks escape and fly
    Singing about her head, as she rode by.

    -Robert Graves

    A Birthday

    by Christina Georgina Rossetti
    (1830-1894)

    My heart is like a singing bird
    Whose nest is in a watered shoot;
    My heart is like an apple tree
    Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
    My heart is like a rainbow shell
    That paddles in a halcyon sea;
    My heart is gladder than all these
    Because my love is come to me.

    Raise me a dais of silk and down;
    Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
    Carve it in doves, and pomegranates,
    And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
    Work it in gold and silver grapes,
    In leaves, and silver fleurs-de-lys;
    Because the birthday of my life
