The Organization's All Too "Worldly" Problem

The following quote is from a book on politics in business ("It's All Politics" by Kathleen Reardon, Ph.D pg. 28). See if it sounds familiar.

"I was invited to advise a financial institution as it recovered from revelations of corruption. In such circumstances, there is usually a lot of

denial. This was especially the case here, however, because the organization had been perpetuating a culture of dishonesty. Its assessment

indicated that concerns about upsetting the apple cart, so to speak, had become so embedded in the culture that people went out of their way

to operate in a hear-no-evil, see-no-evil fashion. After a time, they even began to condone lies. It was all part of being a good team player.

If everyone around you is living a lie, then it's not long before you find yourself living one too. People avoided taking responsibility for poor

results. ... Everyone was guarded about what they said. Outspoken people were branded "complainers", "troublemakers", or "loose

cannons" and were moved out of the company altogether. Loyalty became an excuse for turning a blind eye .....One day a person who'd had

enough decided to blow the whistle. Accounting errors of significant magnitude were discovered, and the press had a feeding frenzy - one

the company richly deserved. It had created its culture, lived in it, benefited from it, and eventually became victimized by it."

Far from being a "spiritual paradise", the organization is suffering from all too 'worldly' problems!

In particular, they are sinking ever deeper into a lazy effort to maintain a clean and righteous image while ignoring the obvious

decay beneath. They can't 'fix' the organization because they can't openly admit to any problem that would interfere with their

facade of Divine 'invincibility'. They have to be careful about statements that suggest that there is a massive problem with

Witness youth. They have to be careful about 'reminding' the friends about contributions because it might suggest that they are in

trouble. Assemblies are becoming more vacuous than ever because of what they can't talk about!

The Watchtower Society - a human organization suffering from 'worldly' tendencies!

You got it right Met.It appears the Society is slowly imploding and the younger generation just couldn't be bothered anymore.I guess it's the modern-day fulfillment of the prophecy "you reap what you sow";hey, this could be a 2-part watchtower study article.

I guess all the work of the writing department has to be edited and approved by the legal department.
