Thanks for all your thoughts and support. I think for the time being I'm going to see how this current situation plays out. I've had ongoing turmoil and disapointments with my family long before my dis-association.

I am sorry to hear about your mother. Go and visit. Spend time with your mother. And, I'm sorry to say this, "Take your checkbook". Since you are not in the "truth", they might as well include you in their reindeer games, only if you bring money to help with expenses with mom. And drain you dry.
When they ask you for money, If you say no, you will be just a sorry SOB apostate, they will surely never talk to again. Who didn't even love your own mother.
If you take out your checkbook, You will be playing right into their hands. HL
