The juice from these oranges has that lovely red colour and is also delicious. Good thing the dubs didn't get the idea that there is real blood in these oranges.

We are talking about Sicilian blood oranges, so called because of the dramatic color of their flesh,

Well, I guess to be consistent, the JW's shouldn't eat them, then...

(Leviticus 17:14) . . .YOU must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood. . .

    baw-sawr'

From H1319; flesh (from its freshness); by extension body, person; also (by euphemism) the pudenda of a man: - body, [fat, lean] flesh [-ed], kin, [man-] kind, + nakedness, self, skin.

Yes logical people would know that there is no actual blood in a blood orange. But for there to actually be an article about, you know someone must have thought there was.

Should a Christian savor the sweet nectar of the blood orange?

When Christ told his disciples to eat the bread in representation of his body, and the wine as representation of his blood, it is clear he was making a parable. Only those of the "heavenly" class are allowed to partake in the emblems of Christ. This ceremony is reserved for one day of the year, when our brothers and sisters of the anointed class humbly give reverence to Jesus Christ by partaking in the emblems. Also, it is stated clearly in the Holy Bible that one must "abstain from blood". And we must not forget the punishment Adam and Eve recieved for eating the fruit. One should be especially cautious of a fruit that is described with words such as "blood" and "flesh". So, a faithful Christian should consider that Jehovah may look unfavorably at those who enjoy the savory juices of the blood orange when parusing the produce section and resist the temptations that satan has placed for us in the guise of a healthy snack.
