Its always marvelled me at how well run the business is....MC is spot on in her comments (not bad for someone pushing 105)

Take this for instance....(I know its slightly off topic)

An unpaid sales force works from a local branch which has its own sales territory; each sales territory is managed by a Sales Manager (Presiding Overseer); each sales territory is seperated into sub territories which is each managed by a sales supervisor (Group Study Conductor). Under the Sales Supervisors are the rank and file. The sales supervisors and rank and file are supported by other line managers which provide support to the sales force...these are trainee sales managers (Ministerial Servants).

Each local branch reports into an Area Sales Manager (Circuit Overseer) who sometimes will visit each branch and make sure it is being run properly by the sales manager and the sales supervisors. If any promotions are in the offing then the Area Sales Manager will advise who should be promoted dependent upon their sales figures. Each Area Sales Manager reports into a Group Sales Manager (District Overseer) who then reports into the National Sales Manager based at Bethel.

There are regular sales meetings every week whereby the sales force are motivated and trained; at other meetings they are given product training and given practical help with their presentation skills; active sales persons must submit a sales report each month highlighting how many magazines and or books they have sold and in turn how many others they are in the process of or indeed have recruited.

Now tell me its not a business....charity is a nice convenient tax fiddle...if they (government) changed the tax status of charities you can bet they would change its status...the trustees are glorified board of directors...and the Governing Body are its shareholders.

If Greendawns suggestion came true (back on topic) and they admitted this then the whole thing would fall flat on its face...its the businesses main unique selling point...'we are gods mouthpiece on earth and we have sayings of everlasting life....follow us, give us your money or die'....hmmn subtle it is not.

DB74 that's a very inspired post it shows very clearly that there is a human business superimposed on the religious organisation that is known as the jWs with the shareholders and executive board at the top.

The dubs have to wake up and see that they are being told that this is god's organisation but in practice the GB are acting as if to all intents and purposes it belongs to them.

Overall this is a business making a clumsy effort to appear as a religion, as it were the GB are businessmen aping religious leaders.

So if the GB and the shareholders think that we are not entitled to have a say in the org because we didn't invest any money in it they might as well come out straight about it and stop trying to justify our exclusion from all decision making by silly biblical interpretations.

It's a question of capital investment not biblical truth.

The WTS: a business clumsily aping a religion.

It's a corporate cult with a religious front. You don' get out without some retribution. You don't quit like you quit a job. You might well find that as you turn your back on the borg that you get shot in the back by their spiritual hit men. Organized religion/organized crime.
