Is using old bible terms for modern day activities. Im thinking about Nethinem (JW's), Gentiles (mormons use this). naming your kid Abraham or Isaiah and the like.. Add some others here.
A good sign of a crackpot religion

Calling a tall large person a nephilim.
Putting 5 people in an 87 tercel.
Walking down the street in a suit in 90 degree weather.
I've got millions.

Yeah me too ritchie, but im specifically thinking about taking terms from the bible and using them to identify some modern day group or activity. The name 'Bethel' is another I just thought of.

There are two main things I use to identify "crackpot" or "high control" religions:
I look for social isolation and intolerance of criticism.
More on the word side, viewing good things as coming from gawd and bad things from saytan.

The Amish have a lot of terms that are similar ... having a brain fart and can`t think of much offhand, but they use `thee` and `thou` , and `brother` and `sister`.
They also isolate themselves and practice shunning.

I know. Those groups also seems to do the ' pull a word from the bible and assign it to some bureacratic group in the organization'. "Nethinim" instead of male secretary or admin assistant.
