The whole idea of "privacy" against the goverment is lunacy! There's been no privacy for the last fifty years! Do you have a job? Then you pay taxes, the goverment knows where you live how much you make how many dependents you have, everything is in the files if they care to look!
Do you have credit? The banks know EVERYTHING about you! I've been involved in Some deep investigations and it's easy to get ANY info on you! Pull your credit and know where you shop and what accounts you have! Pull your utilities and see how many times a month you shower or flush the toilet!
This idea that the goverment gives a crap about you is crazy! Why would they CARE unless your doing something illegal???? Do you think that when I'm sitting it the patrol car and you drive by that I'm wondering what your up too? NO!!!!! I'm wondering how soon I can get of work! I don't give two farts in a high breeze what your doing! Now if your swerving all over the road throwing beer bottles THEN I care because your breaking the LAW!

I am blown away by your reasoning mkr32208 . It is also a “hot button” of mine, and I am extremely grateful that I do not see the world through your eyes.
This is a slippery slope you’re advocating. Just where would you draw the line? Should we then have cameras and recorders in all public places? It’s been proposed…a city in this state is trying to get it passed as we speak….. and what then… maybe video cameras and recorders in all private homes…recording our every action and conversation? After all if you have nothing to hide…if you’re doing nothing wrong…you have nothing to worry about…right? Then maybe technology will come up with a way to read thoughts… and there will be a device to monitor those too.. Is that ok with you too?
Maybe stop a potential criminal before he/she has a chance to act on their ideas? You could come up with a million reasons to justify it….but that doesn’t make it right. Every phone with GPS…every car with GPS…oh, and let’s add video cameras inside every car…after all, we’ll know who really caused the accident… Oh, and then there’s medical records… do you want those to be public info too? There are many unscrupulous people out there who would use that info to victimize the innocent. Do you honestly think that info would be confidential in the government’s hands?
Far fetched? Maybe…but then things like GPS were not even imagined by most people 20 years ago…. So who knows? The trend is certainly going in that direction, and I for one, am alarmed. It is not the world I want to live in, nor what I hope for my grandchildren.
I am not a conspiracy believer. I’ve read much of the material, and dismiss most of it. It does not, however, take a rocket scientist to see that our freedom is eroding. We are not as free today as we were in my childhood. Having been raised in the borg, and having rid myself of its’ control, finally, I have no desire to live in a world where another entity claims control of my identity, my thoughts, and my whereabouts. It is beyond my comprehension that anyone would want such a thing.
