An Interesting Few Days..

    Sure has been!

First off, I've been lumbered with the dreaded sciatica. I put my back out a few weeks ago, L3 and L4 in my lumber region became slightly mis-placed and have irritated the sciatic nerve as a result. Ouch! I've seen an osteopath on 2 occasions and at last it seems to be abating. Thank Gawd for that.

What else...oh yeah, we've had the highly entertaining Julie Feuhrbacher staying with us for a few days. Boy that girl sure loves a pint or 4 of Hobgoblin! I picked her up at London Heathrow, then, on the return journey, some wagg decided to close down the entire M4 going west. So we had to make our way back to WSM on the back roads. At least Julie got a circular tour of Bath City which she seemed to enjoy. She was great fun to have around so we miss her now she's gone.

    What else..umm...oh yes! Southampton lost 2 - 3 after being 2 - 0 up! Poor old 'arry.

We had a great weekend away which is why I've been absent for a few days. We had our annual family get-together at Cenre Parcs, and this time it was our turn to choose the venue, so we elected for Longleat as it's about an hours run from our place. Lot's of wine, lots of good food, lots of excellent company. Plus I did a fair bit of swimming. which seems to have helped the back pain to have settled down somewhat.

So that was it. A good time was had by all!

Sounds more interesting than our weekend! Jennie is re-doing her room in black and grey with touches of red (not the walls, the furniture -- walls will be a soft yellow at some point), so we ordered a black bookcase & hutch, and a black dresser and mirror to complete the look. However, when they arrived, neatly packed in flat boxes, we knew we were in for . . . SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.

That was the weekend. I don't want to see another screwdriver for a long, LONG time. Moose, of course, added to the general excitement by seeing how many wooden dowels he could stuff in his mouth before we noticed they were missing. Jackson wisely stayed out of our way. Jennie helped and we had a sort of assembly line thing going on with the dresser yesterday. Looks really good! Glad it's over!

We celebrated the completion of our project yesterday evening with take-out pasta, a nice Beaujolais (for the adults), and watched "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" for the umpteenth time.

    Oh woe is me.
Long gone are the days of involved descriptions of Lucy Sausage and Dub-in-a-pub.
You're back MUST be killing ya, pal! You've certainly been through the wars!

Get well soon, and see ya in a couple of months (DV).

    Is that Nigella?

Oh, LT, Ray has instigated divorce proceedings against Sausage Lucy. Dub-in-the-pub is running a boating pond in the Bristol area.

On grounds of "irreconcilable differences of digestion"?

Glad to hear you all had such a rollicking good time there, Mike, except for the lumbar problems and sciatica. Hey, so the swimming helped - that's good to know.

I'll bet Julie is lots of fun!
