For those here on the board that are in the USA there is a group looking for community volunteers.
The US Corps of Chaplains is a christian organization that responds to Disasters and Emergencies to provide support to victims and responders. They also provide services to Active duty service members, families and veterans such as supporting families while their loved ones are serving abroad and assisting with military funerals when a military chaplain is not available.
You do not need to be in the ministry to be involved as response assistance comes in many forms. You could be filling sand bags to prevent flooding, assisting a family displaced by a fire or helping responders cope with the horrible things that they see at the scenes of critical incidents.
The group is set up with a military rank structure so it might quench that desire to serve in a quasi-military service that you were not able to fulfill in the dubs. LOL There is a great satisfaction in helping friends and neighbors during a crisis and I thought of the many wonderful, caring people here on this board when I was asked if I knew others who might be interested.
