It would seem that the President has more power than anyone else in the country. Do you believe that? Or is there someone else that wields more power??

In my opinion the Supreme Court as a whole has more power.

Nut-job, appointed-for-life judges have more power. Not what the founding fathers had in mind at all which is why there were not stronger checks and balances written into our founding documents here in the US. They did not see a time when the courts would hold the final say.

I'd rather have a number of intelligent jurists legally examine an issue than let a president politically take advantage of a matter.

All power is derived from the Constitution. Each branch has been given equal limits on their power. The Supreme Court has to ultimately abide by what the Constitution says, until the Constitution is changed by amendment. The beauty of this system is that it makes it difficult for factions to completely take over the government. You might get frustrated when the government can't seem to accomplish anything because of all these checks and balances. Count your blessings. A government that can't get anything accomplished is a lot safer than a government that passes all sorts of crazy laws on the whims of the Right or the Left.

There was a president that became the chief justice but not at the same time: William Howard Taft

Checks and balances in the Constitution are designed to keep each of the 3 branches of government from having too much power, Executive, Legislative, Judicial.

All powers not specifically assigned to the federal government belong to the states.

If they're worthless, can we just disband the government and send them home? That way, we could keep all that tax money!
