Do you believe our world is better than it used to be a few hundred/thousands years ago? my memory can not go that far
Do we wage fewer wars? no
Do people feel safer? no
Do we have more freedom through more leasure time (or do we work less)?, most are just slaves that work less hours, and in many countries the slaves have cars.
Are we healthier? no, just more prescriptions available
Are we better educated? no, just more knowledge
Is our culture more sophisticated than it used to be, or is it only "differently-sophisticated"? no just more exposure to cultural events but no better quality
What are the greatest failures? too much suffering having the resources to end it worlwide, but instead using to cause more suffering

What are the greatest achievements? the internet... making possible a goblal community, knowledge is power that can be used for improvenment
what about the distribution of those achievements? very bad distribution
These are all questions about the state of affairs on a global scale.
