My numbers were bought hot off the press tonight.....

I can only dream and hope to win....But if I ever did, I would be the first to ask if I could do one of the Lotto 6/49 commercials as a big winner...

Man, would I love to see some heads spin over that one...

No chance of you winning tonight...............Cause I'M winning tonight!!!

My question on buying lottery tickets is this: Why is it okay for Brother Janitor (who screwed his half-brother out of his inheritance by getting his mother to change her Will when she was dying), to put $100,000 into the Stock Market's dot-com companies in the late '90s, with the desire to see the price go up, up and away, only to lose virutally all of it in 2001 when everything crashed? Uh, is this not a form of GREED???? Seeing as he was forced to sell his house and car in order to survive, wouldn't you say he was being very materialistic and stupid for buying something that he couldn't really afford?? By the way, he's an elder.

Apparently, there's nothing wrong with losing a hundred grand in the stock market, but if I go and spend $1.00 on a lottery ticket, then I'm a greedy materialistic bitch who's one short step away from worshipping Satan........or whoever the "God of Good Luck" is supposed to be.

    Makes perfect sense eh?

    Mary,

Can someone explain to me why a witness can't go and buy a lottery ticket for himself, but can keep a ticket they find on the ground or keep a ticket they receive as a gift from a worldly person.

Why do witnesses go to the state fair or local carnival.....and pay $1 to see if they can knock down 3 bottle so they can maybe win a big stuffed teddy bear? They pay money for the CHANCE they might win. Most lose as do those who play the slot machines or buy a lottery ticket.....no difference.

You could get disfellowshipped for losing 20 bucks in a casino or buying lotto tickets, yet throw darts at the carnival with your elder buddy tryin to win a big teddy bear with a big beer in your hand, and no problem. Go figure.

There are some really good points here on the subject of the Witness "stand" on gambling and greed! I could never quite grasp the whole concept. In fact apparently I went decades not realizing we were not allowed to even have an unpaid raffle ticket, like at a work function. The whole Witness argument is full of holes and inconsistent.

    And Mary!

Such a good point, and delivered in your usual hilarious manner!

I think that they don't want us to play lotto, so that we have enough money left to buy Watchtower books, magazines, suits, and have enought money to put gas in the car to go out in the service.

    Sounds like Watchtower greed.
