What blizzard? NYC was to supposed to get the worst storm in ages, wasn't that bad and the forecasters are apologizing for saying it was going to be so bad, but Long Island got hit worse than the city and Boston and Rhode Island also

In Boston we had about 2 feet. Our company was closed Tuesday but reopened late on Wednesday. It's Friday now, and still some of the back roads are pretty bad. -

To be fair to forecasters, they deal with probabilities and not absolutes. The media takes "x% chance" and turns it into "impending doom!".
Previous storms have left many dead - it's far better to over-prepare and under-suffer than the other way round. Just regular deep snow can be challenging enough and leave people stranded, cut off and out of reach of emergency services.
