Donating to Religious Charities

  Before I donate I do my research and see just how much money actually goes to the people in need. I know a percentage must go for overhead and such but if it's a large amount going to pay the staff forget it I'll set up my own Kate Needs Her Money to Live on Fund.

  On that note I prefer to donate to charities that work for a cure of a disease than donate to religious run charities.

  I think the (among (X-)JW) widespread dislike for the Red Cross is because of the cross in it. As a JW, you would rather welcome a "Red Stake".
  
  But the committee respects the religios feelings of those that do not consider themselves Christians. In Muslim countries the organization is called "Red Crescent".
