For those of you who haven't read a previous discussion on why the Watchtower hasn't mentioned anything on their website regarding the tragedy in South East Asia, check out the following link...

    started by GermanXJW...

To whatever religion's website you surf, all have a comment on the tsunami in south Asia: be it Catholic, Protestant, Adventist, Mormon, New Apostolic or whatever. They try to give comfort and encourage people to donate for the suffering people there.

But if you go to http://www.watchtower.org or http://www.jw-media.org there is no mention of it (at least by now). Watchtower.org even features "Poland's Amazing Coastal Dunes".

Yeah, "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need."

But be sure that for some days now thousands of JW use the desaster as a selling point for their literature.

One of the responders to German's post is listed below...

    From Indelcio

Go to the Current Events page. Ah, now we're getting somewhere. Notice the date of all articles included there are earlier than April 1, 2004. This easily says that the last site update was before April.

    So, why the delay?

Since WatchTower is moving printing presses, and other neccessities, they're slowly abandoning buildings in New York, mostly for security issues. Thus, there isn't much in they're old offices. Since the new buildings havn't been completely set up yet, they also havn't got access to a computer (or if they do, they lack one with admin access) to update the site (the server is mysteriously up and running though). Thus, without a computer, especially one with admin access to the server, there is no way to update the site, and by extention, no way to list any releif efforts to in Asia.

Further proof to the lack of updating comes from the fact that the publications released at the 2004 DC are not listed.

That ends the investigation for today.

Ok, got it? The Watchtower is too slow and doesn't have the manpower to update their website?

    Wrong.

Check out jw-media.org for their latest Jan 1st Release, entitled "A Message of Hope"

A message of hope continued to spread globally in 2004

"We talk to people about our beliefs and theirs. We offer hope, comfort, and answers from the Bible in a world increasingly plagued by questions. That is a primary objective of our internationally recognized preaching work," explained Theodore Jaracz, a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. "But to do that we have to extend ourselves, which at times may mean learning another language to be able to reach people of another community."

Some of Jehovah's Witnesses around the world have taken up foreign languages on their own. Or in recent years they have enrolled in free foreign-language classes organized through local congregations, in order to communicate with people of other language groups.

In the United States, for example, the majority of the 11,000 congregations are English, but the number of Spanish congregations is quickly nearing 3,000. Additionally, scores of other language groups are regularly meeting to build their knowledge and faith. Included are Albanian, Armenian, Cambodian, Greek, Korean, Navajo, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian and Vietnamese. American Sign Language has not been overlooked and has become the fastest-growing of these groups.

In 2004, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, an international publishing arm of Jehovah's Witnesses, produced millions of educational tracts, magazines, books and Bibles to fill the needs of all of the aforementioned language groups. Also, since 1997, Jehovah's Witnesses have maintained and updated the Web site www.watchtower.org, which provides accurate information about their beliefs and activities. As of June 2004, the Web site has included published educational information in 250 languages, from Afrikaans, Chinese, and French to Hebrew, Icelandic, Punjabi and Yapese. Among other helpful details, the Watchtower Web site makes available the postal addresses of branch offices around the globe, where people can obtain more information or receive personal assistance from Witnesses locally.

Notice that the Watchtower found time to make a new release, but mentioned nothing about the tsunami disaster or how JW's could donate. Typically Ted Jaracz obsession with "bible educational work" and less about charitable works.

Now compare some other religious websites and see the difference for yourself...

It's so disgusting to see how self centered the dubs are when it comes to human tragedy.

Notice the comments below, taken from E-Watchman

    http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/viewtopic.php?p=25744#25744

    Dear friends,
I received a couple of e-mails yesterday regarding So. Asia and the Society's efforts I think you should know about...I have left out the names of those sending the e-mails to respect their privacy.

    Greetings,

Here is an update today from our Bethelite friends in Sri Lanka........

    "Dear Friends,

A small update on the situation here in Sri Lanka.

Bethel is co-ordinating relief efforts, and we are busy receiving
supplies, sorting them and then sending them out to the brothers. As
brothers return from delivering their first lot of supplies, we are able to
get a clearer picture of what is required.

A second truck has just left for Trincomalee, on the east of the island. It
will take them about 10 hours to get there. Relief has been sent down south to Galle, North to Negombo, and East to Trinco and Batticoloa. Obtaining clean drinking water is a priority, and the brothers on the way to
Batticoloa were able to stop at a water plant and fill up many containers
    full.

We are also sending out matting and bedding, clothes, cooking equipment,
candles, basic medical supplies, in addition to dry rations. Some of our
brothers have lost their homes and all their posessions. Some are still
missing. One local sister and her husband went down to Galle today to look for her mother, father and two sisters who were on holiday there when the wave struck. A group of 15 italian tourists, brothers and sisters, who were missing were found to be safe. In fact they have just visited Bethel on their way to the airport! So that was some good news.

We appreciate so much your loving concern and prayers.

    Our warmest love,"

Notice how many times the "brothes" are mentioned. Yet, the death toll for this disaster is currently 124,000.

Many of us here would have been staunch supporters of the WTB&TS at one time.

However, I cannot see how I could have possibly defended such a pathetic Jan 01 news release, given that in the last week, we have witnesses perhaps the greatest natural disaster of our time. Not even a passing mention of the victims.

    New Apostolic Church: http://www.nak.org/news/20041229-99-gb.html

    Catastrophe in Southern Asia
(29.12.2004) Zurich. The terrible seaquake and tidal wave that has claimed the lives of many tens of thousands of victims throughout the entire region of Southern Asia and beyond is a terrible catastrophe. Chief Apostle Richard Fehr, head of the New Apostolic Church International, extends his deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by the disaster. The state of the news is still somewhat unclear, with new damage reports coming in on a continual basis. At present it is not known whether any - or how many - members of the New Apostolic Church have come to harm in the affected regions. For this reason no global aid appeal has been launched for the congregations of the New Apostolic Church around the world as of this moment. However, the usual accounts of NAK-karitativ remain open for donations. For more information visit http://www.nak.de/karitativ/

Teams of Americans, Europeans, Australians and Taiwanese are en route to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and India to join Scientology Volunteer Ministers already assisting in relief efforts following the devastation of the tsunamis of December 26. This is normal thinking for an apocalyptic, survivalist cult. We shouldn't be surprised at their lack of interest in ordinary humanity and they fact they're only thinking of their own. It is rehearsal for Armageddon time.

The Adventists could also be described as a "apocalyptic, survivalist cult". But their website features:

"Our hearts, our concern and our prayers go out to the people of Asia, Africa and beyond who have been affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency International, ADRA, is active, along with the other international aid organizations, bringing supplies of shelter, medicine, food and water in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India. As you know, money will be a critical need for the foreseeable future and every donation is helpful and welcome. ADRA's web site will update you on ADRA’s activity and how you can help.

As we continue to monitor this tragedy in the Indian Ocean, let us pray as if for family—for we are.

Even the Buddist have got something on their website about the disaster and how you can give to help those poor people out........I guess "the happiest people on earth" are too busy getting the ever-important Botchtower and Asleep magazines out to the public, to be bothered donating any sort of help eh?
