During the presidential elections, both Bush and Kerry frequently said "God bless America" - it would be very jarring if any of our party leaders said "God bless the UK".

I think Tony Blurgh with pay the price for being so overtly religious come the next election.

Over here anyone claiming to be religious is viewed with great mistrust and suspicion (rightly so).

He refused to answer Jeremy Paxman's questions about whether he prayed with Bush (knowing it would be like committing political hiri-kiri)

BTW: Paxman is a political interviewer in the UK who is very determined and doesn't let people wriggle off the hook.

Simon said Paxman is a political interviewer in the UK who is very determined and doesn't let people wriggle off the hook.

Simon - wasnt it Paxman who was famous for asking Michael Howard the opposition leader during an interview the same question about 14 times? (When the conservatives were in power)
