Communism is attractive because it promises to share the wealth with the common guy. He sees the mansion on the hill and says, "Yes, I want that."
Watchtowerism is attractive because it promises that only the meek will inherit the earth. The common guy sees the mansion on the hill and says, "Yes, I want that."

Communism was supposed to be egalitarian, but it was maintained by an oppressive, heirarchal regime.
Jehovah's Witnesses boast that they are all equal around the world as they study and sing, lock-step. But it is maintained by an oppressive, heirarchal regime.

Communism could not keep up with change. Innovation and individuality were too far suppressed.

I always thought the WT pictures, especially the sort my Grandmother had from the 60's looked so much like socialist workers art. Happy peasants working the fields etc.

Interersting how the society uses the term Theocracy, which by definition is a system of government controled by religious leaders (literally rule by god). The muslim fundamentalist countries such as Iran are Theocracies.

I used this expression in a conversation on current affairs with my JW father and he objected to my use of the term. I explained that Iran is a totalitarian Theocracy where the thinking and lives are controlled by the religious leaders. He failed to see the irony.

OK, so I like to wind my father up, its such good sport.
