So dubbies.......do you really believe your dedication is to Jehovah .....or to the Society?

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 18, par 1
...the Witnesses are dedicated to God not to any legal agency....

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 19, par 3
...the legal corporation and "the faithful and discreet slave" are not interchangeable terms. Directors of the Watch Tower
Society are elected, whereas Witnesses who make up the 'faithful slave' are anointed by Jehovah's holy spirit.

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 19, par 4
In order to avoid misunderstandings, Jehovah's Witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves. Instead of
saying, "the Society teaches," many Witnesses prefer to use the expression as, "the Bible says" or, "I understand the Bible
to teach."...avoid giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect.

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 20, par 7
But as a free moral agent, each one has personally decided to declare the good news of God's Kingdom, to remain
politically neutral, to abstain from blood,....These are not decisions forced upon them. They are decisions that fall within the
framework of a way of life freely chosen by potential Witnesses before they ever take the step of Christian dedication.

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 22, par 15
If a Witness makes a decision on the basis of Bible counsel offered by the Governing Body, he does so of his own volition
because his own study of the Bible has convinced him that this is the proper course.

    Watchtower 3/15/98 page 23, par 19
Do not the facts make clear that Jehovah's Witnesses are servants of God, not slaves of men? ....The evidences of this
should erase any uncertainty about the source of their strength.

From four to six quarts of warm water injected into the colon
is what constitutes an internal bath. It should be taken every
day for at least six months...(Golden Age, 3/31/1920 p.437-8)

WT 6/15/57 p. 370 "Respond to the direction of this organization as you
    would the voice of God."

WT 3/15/69 p. 172 "Jehovah's organization should influence our every
    decision."

WT 12/15/72 p. 755 "So, recognition of that governing body and its place in
God's theocratic arrangement of things is necessary for submission to the
    headship of God's Son."

WT 7/1/73 p. 402 "How very much true Christians appreciate associating
with the only organization on earth that understands the deep things of
    God!"

WT 2/15/76 p. 124 " Failure to respond to the direction of the organization
indicates a rejection of Divine rulership."

WT 11/15/81 p.21 "come to Jehovah's organization for salvation.?

WT 12/1/81 p. 14 ?What is your attitude toward directives from the
faithful and discreet slave? Loyalty should move you to be ready to
    obey.?

Who, of all religions on earth today, has "the credentials of a
true prophet?" I can see only two possible answers to this question:

    1] The Society
    2] Nobody

If the Society does not claim to be a *real* prophet; a true prophet
    - - then wouldn't that mean that there isn't *any* actual prophet on earth today?
The only other source of prophets would be "Babylon the Great,"
wouldn't it? Isn't the Watchtower Society the only possible
source of a real prophet? But if they deny being such a prophet,
then wouldn't that mean that there isn't one single prophet on
    earth today? (Don Cameron)

The problem with Wacky Watchower quotes is there are just too many to go along..although admittedly secular sources that many years ago had some pretty quacky cures in them too. But there is more than enough religious and social nonesense they have published to go along.

    My favorite dumb quote....

"You Can Live Forever" book, Page 191....

"Why can we be certain that God has a visible organization"?

"One reason is he has an invisible organization".

    Garybuss........nice quotes my friend....thanks.

    Here's another,

    1975 Yearbook, from page 146 :

"The year 1925 came and went. Jesus' anointed followers were still on earth as a class. The faithful men of old time - Abraham, David and others - had not been resurrected to become princes in the earth. (Ps. 45:16) So, as Anna MacDonald recalls: '1925 was a sad year for many brothers. Some of them were stumbled; their hopes were dashed...Instead of it's being considered a "probability," they read into it that it was a "certainty." and some prepared for their loved ones with expectations of their resurrection."

Notice it was the publishers fault for being too anxious.....yet why did the publishers feel the way they did?

    Watchtower Oct. 15, 1917, from page 6157 :

"There will be no slip-up...Abraham should enter upon the actual possession of his promised inheritance in the year 1925"

    Watchtower July 15, 1922, from page 217 :

"This chronology is not of man but of God...of divine origin ...absolutely and unqualifiedly correct."

    Watchtower Sept. 01, 1922, from page 262 :

"1914 ended the Gentile Times...The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by the Scriptures...by then the great crisis will be reached and probably passed"

    Watchtower April 01, 1923, from page 106 :

"1925 is definitely settled by the Scriptures...the Christian has much more upon which to base his faith than Noah had (so far as the Scriptures reveal) upon which to base his faith in the coming deluge"

    Watchtower July 15, 1924, from page 211 :

"The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in the Scriptures, even more clearly than that of 1914."

Well, the ancient worthies (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc.) didn't return in 1925, but just in case they would show up later Judge Rutherford had a house built for them in San Diego, called Beth Sarim. And when they still didn't show up, Rutherford felt worthy enough to live in it himself. So, you can see how significant the year 1925 turned out to be!

Just in case anybody was unsure of what they were getting into at baptism, note the two questions. Isn't it funny that these are not clearly set ou in the pre baptism questions . At the time when one stands there , you are hardly likely to query the wording

    ***

    w85 6/1 p. 30 Subjecting Ourselves to Jehovah by Dedication ***

At the close of the convention baptism talk, the baptism candidates will be in position to answer with depth of understanding and heartfelt appreciation two simple questions that serve to confirm that they recognize the implications of following Christ?s example. The first question is:

    On

the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?

    The second is:

    Do

you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah?s Witnesses in association with God?s spirit-directed organization?

Having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in a right heart condition to undergo Christian baptism.
