No, I'm not a Horoscope nor Card believer/reader, but just for the fun of it I read mine as I noticed it on my MSN homepage menu.

I was wondering if I read mine for say.....2 weeks.....and one of the readings was always on, it might shake me up a bit!

Here was my fate for the day.( I might add.....the Tarrot reading was dead on for me today)

    Daily Horoscope
Gumby. A synchronicity is a cosmic coincidence, one of those moments that makes you feel a sense of wonderment about life. This could involve a loved one or a friend. Maybe you will have some psychic feelings about this person that prove to be valid. Or maybe you will receive some "sign" about things unfolding in a meaningful, miraculous way.
    The Tarrot Reading
    Love: The Sun
    Touchstone: The High Priestess
    Career: Justice

You're going to be tempted to retreat in your own little shell today in order to engage in a bit of soul-searching. This introspective mood is prompted by the combined influence of the High Priestess and the Sun. In a way, that's really rather a shame, dear larry: It would actually be in your best interest to open yourself up to the outside world, to share the wealth of your imagination and vision with your professional environment. Come out of your reserve, put aside your typical modesty and self-denigration. You have so much to offer. As far as work is concerned, today is going to be a totally uneventful and uninspiring day - it will feel like sailing on a day without a breeze. With the High Priestess and Justice governing, your professional environment although perfectly balanced, lacks dynamism. You might as well take this opportunity to think calmly about your future prospects. It may not be the most exciting thing to do, but you need to sow the seeds before you can harvest.

I think these things off the net are way too generic. If I want my cards done I pull out my deck. There are so many nuances that I think you really need to have a reading be more personal. They can't exactly tell you how the day of every single person of your sign will go, rather I think that they will say what they think the more major signs point to. But things happen and intervene along the way at times, or we make choices that lead us on a different path. Personally I would never make a major decision based solely on a reading, but I do sometimes use it as more of a general sense of things.

LOVING this TOPIC, Gumboogey! LOL! I am very very into esoteric stuff........all forms........in fact, I was DF'd for spiritism..........i.e. reading my horoscope in papers and on the internet.......and my now ex turned me in.......LOL..........I have to remember to thank him for me the next time I chat with him. I collect tarot card decks, and at present have about 7 or 8 different ones. I am always interested in different sites on the 'net, and I found a really neat one"

The human brain looks for things that match; things that correspond; it looks for synching up a pattern. Why? We learn from patterns of predictabilty. When there is a co-incidence it starts a thread in our brain and makes us sit up and take notice. However, most seeming patterns are not patterns at all. This leaves humans open to being fooled. The easiest way to fool the brain is to turn it loose on information and tell it to FIND a meaningful pattern. People can create a pattern where one does not exist.

There is a con game that has been very effective I'll mention.

A man starts a Newsletter that deals with advice on what Stocks to buy on the Stock Market. In order to get subsribers he resorts to a scam that goes as follows.

Week #1 The Scammer mails out 32,000 notices from a mailing list of prospects he has bought.

The mail contains a high-profile stock prediction. A black and white statement is made that STOCK X will definitely GO: UP!

But, notice this! 16,000 of his letters say UP and the other 16,000 say DOWN.

A week passes. For 16,000 of the mail recipients he was absolutely correct. For the others, he was dead wrong.

    What does he do now?

He mails out (only to the people who received CORRECT prediction) 8,000 UP predictions and 8,000 DOWN predictions.

    Each week he repeats.

Next week, only to the people who got the correct prediction he sends 4,000 UP and 4,000 DOWN.

After that, 2,000 UP and 2,000 DOWN.

The final week he is left with 2,000 people who got correct predictions each and every time they got a letter from him. In his new letter he points out his batting average is 100% and boasts at how much money can be made using his newsletter. He tells them they will make huge riches by following his "inside" tips. He challenges each mail recipient to watch ONE MORE TIME as he predicts another stock. The challenge is: if I get this right AGAIN--I challenge you to subscribe to my $200 a year newletter and continue to receive foolproof stock advice. If you don't subscribe I will NOT send anymore predictions and my newletter is available ONLY to subscribers.

Following that he sends out 1,000 letters with an UP and 1,000 letters with a DOWN prediction.

The next week what is the result? 1,000 completely convinced people subscribe to his newsletter and he makes $200,000 for his efforts. For the people who subscribe, he was never wrong!

Naturally, his stock advice newsletter is, following that, no better or worse than anybody elses. It is the illusion of being a top predictor that keeps him in business.
