Please folk on this board....have you never learned to give credit where it is due? And without wanting to be controversial, think of the wisdom behind God's and Christ's law of having 'two witnesses', it is not a law made up by the WTS, imagine if you were totally innocent, yet charged? Wht not look up the Royal College of Psychiatrists (London) site and see the other side of the coin and stop being so damn critical. gdt

And, to further add a thought, and to acknowledge the hurt carried by many, there is no excuse for cover-ups or not going to authorities way beyond any elder, at any time. But if you look up the articles on 'false accusation', or 'recalled memory' you will find much material from major authorities on the problems of going on repressed memories by persons from their childhood, and the wrongful jailing of many charged with abuse unproven. You and I would not appreciate being jailed on a false accusation of abuse, and the '2 witness' rule would be appreciated, if you and I were innocent. You make perfect sense. The point is the cover up side of things because they don't want to bring reproach upon "Jehovah"!
I was on the internet around about when we could first access it on a home PC. Because of the societies view, talking about what I read or using a quote in a talk was not the done thing and still isn't. I had a good friend in the Cong who terminated his families internet connection on the advice from the Tower!

Although I met you in chat last night while you insulted the intelligence of us all in general and Bliss in particular, I will just say this. The world has moved beyond Old Testament procedures. Civil society does not stone to death young women who have sex before marriage. We dont slaughter goats and sheep to drip their blood on rocks in an effort to appease god, we use modern medicine to "cleanse" persons of diseases rather than have them bathe seven times in running water.
We also do not require two witnesses in order to deal with child abusers. We have professional social workers, mental health proffesionals, doctors, and the system of law to investigate and prosecute offenders. Which is much better than letting uneducated, patriarchal egotists decide the outcome based on an ancient system of judgement that obviously favors the adult male offender.
If you are going to try to convince us that the ot way is "gawds way", then go ALL THE WAY. Lets also institute stoning young girls for wayward sex!
