I am glad you found your doggie. Perhaps the coming storm made her act crazy and run away. I have seen animals do bizzare things when the approaching weather is nasty.

My sister and her husband had a Scottish Terrier named Duncan, they always made sure that he had a tag with his name, their names, and their phone number. About ten years ago he came up missing one morning. After a couple of days of searching they got a collect phone call from "Duncan" some how he had made his way to the other side of Puget Sound. We have no idea how he got there.
