    Good points, Willy!

Perhaps soon "new light" will make even clearer the socialist ideals of the WTS.

The last 2 day Assembly we had really hit us hard. There was an unexpected bill that came right afterward. This is a breakdown of costs for the 2 day

3 hour drive to Assembly Hall = $40 bucks gas

    Hotel 2 nights = $100 - $120

Breakfast Dinner at restaurant for 2 nights for entire family est. $80 - $120

    Donations to WTS $10 - $20

One average you could spend $250 - $350 for this. And of course this does not include the point where you may have to get new clothes and shoes for your kids so they dont look stupid in front of the other kids. It was always a fashion show anyway.

Now with the fact that we are going to have to go to the grocery store each day because we are not suppose to eat out anywhere. Are they going to provide hotels with a fridge? If I dont want my food to spoil I am now put to the burden of going shopping at the end of the day.

Now multipy this by 3 times a year. I did not go to my one day assembly because I am on a tight budget. Plus I had a bad experience at my last assembly.

I liked what willyloman had to say,

I made real good money in the steel mills until they shut down in the mid 1980's. But never saved a dime 'because the end was just around the corner'! Since then I have had several good jobs because of my trade but never saved a dime. Why 'because the end was just around the corner. Now fast forward to the past few years. When I look at what I was able to save since kind of scares me. I am not and never will be "really set financialy", but if I could have started saving like this about 35 years ago........I would be VERY financially set today. I could over my but I won't. I am HappyDad today.

What really bothered me over the years was the fact that others (including fellow elders) who thought the end was coming soon bought new homes, invested, and did all sorts of things to accumulate money and "material" things.

Did they and do they really believe these teachings of the WTBTS?

But now I have what money can't buy! FREEDOM.............YEAH.

I remember being a pioneer in 1985 and living on about $1 a day and hand outs.Worse when I went to Bethel in 1986 I recieved an allowance of $15 a month and two suits (cheapies) and 1 pair shoes a year. I used to suck up to all the old ladies for them to knit me a jersey for free. I secretly used to fill in the Reader's digest sweepstakes hoping I could win and get the hell out of it..but was afraid that my terrible crime of secretly worshipping mammon in Bethel and the God of Luck would catch up with me.....

Besides, the vow of poverty, we ate like kings at Bethel compared to a lot of the starving massess of african brothers. In 1985 or 1986 (I can tremember exactly) I think it was an International assembly (United in Worship /Integrity keepers ????) and some of the delegates from USA and Europe were so shocked by the state of the convention toilet facilities and food (60000 people and about 4 blocked toilets etc etc I think they didn't expect witnesses to be so broke.. I specifically remember a German chap who was so cheerful on the bus ride to the convention..sing along..until he saw the toilets..next day he packed up and went home ................on the other hand ........Plenty money went to the luxury apartments of the local bethel translators and branch overseers....one even had a new merc.

So why were we broke back then ??? ...because we were suckered into believing the end was imminent and we would all be eating juicy fruits and have beautiful houses just like in the PE book ! The more feild service you could do the better !!

What a bunch of suckers we were back then !

Thank God I converted from the WTBTS poor economic policy to Capitalism...otherwise I'd be middle aged standing at an intersection with a cardboard sign begging for pennies.....you see you just don't get rich selling those boring mags !

    Minumus.

If the WT is brooked, they must have very bad investors, never forget that they staret this religon when the industri society also start.

If Russel ivet some money, it could be enormus summs now, I think the opposite, I think we are one of the most rich religions in the world, who can show upp workers as cost nothing, selling what you print fore free evry month.

And from all 95.000 congs, come around 1000 $ evry month, at least in the western world, count on this , it is let us say, from 600- 1000 million dollars evry mont, very clever and intelegent.

Brooke no minimus fare from that.

at the assembly today they had many part with the normal speel avoid promotions, night classes, overtime, nightwork etc. Then several weird ones. Like they encouraged us to gie large tips 15%-20%. They even had a "reinactment" where a waiter called jws big tippers when a tract was placed in his tip. They also had a point to use our "unrighteous gain to support" the work. It seems like the WT is divided again and some unamed GB want to court the well off JWs who mangaged to out smart there bretheren and out class them financialy. I mean how else is a full time pioneer with no edjucation and flexible work scedule suppossed to leave large tips and have any "unrighteous gain" to donate.
