At the summer conventions, it used to be a common thing to hear:

He must be a Bethelite. He has that pale Bethel palor about him.

All the pioneers (window washers all) had great tans. Yep "Bethelite" was basically a pasty glowing white sign on the forehead, arms, legs etc. (except for some of us pagan sun-worshippers that skipped lunch to lay out on the back areas of Bethel property).

So if you see pasty white, they are either a Bethelite or possibly an accountant.

Uzzah - a currently non-practicing sun-worshipper that longs for the days when he was blissfully ignorant as to the damage that can be caused by the sun.

that's ironic where I'm from all the witnesses I see are brown. I have never met white witnesses, not before and not now.

I remember there was a talk once about people who laid out in the sun, it was actually considered a form of 'worshiping the sun'....whatever...I still did it.

My mother (super JW, trust me!) is a major sunworshipper.

Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they had an edict against it! After all, being in the sun might be enjoyable, and we wouldn't want to have that, would we?

Maybe most of them just don't have the time to enjoy the great outdoors. You know, with all the meetings and FS, who has the time to go to the beach or pursue outdoors pursuits? It makes sense.

Most JW kids in San Diego have nice tans. After service they all hit the beach for surfing or whatever.
