How interesting Earnest (and welcome).
Also, with the child molestation issues, could they be hinting that they will protect you only if you are active? HMMMMMMMMMMM

and ask the elders if a certain person is REALLY a Jehovah's Witness
Why would a non-Witness say they are one?
Minimus,
Ahhhh, that explains it. Earnest hit the nail on the head.
BTW, Earnest, I feel so silly welcoming you when you have been here for ages! Might I rephrase with a "So good to meet you"!
Well, that being the case, "infrequent feild service ministers" should be quite worried!
How tragic for the r and f.
Earnest is a sharp one!......so are you Little Witch.
Thanks Mini, and congrats on 10,000 posts. I have enjoyed every one!
Thanks for your welcome, little witch. A welcome is never too late and I have always enjoyed the moderation of your posts. Another thought I have had regarding the authorities checking up on those claiming to be JWs is because of the increased awareness of the threat of terrorism. It's quite an amusing thought to have a squad of al-Quaeda operatives going from door-to-door pretending to be JWs but, of course, terrorism takes on many forms and no police force wants it happening on their patch.
...or of course, it could just be an elder trying to scare the poop out of the cong.
I am not trying to be funny min -- but I do not fully understand what you are trying to say/ask -- any chance of some plain English please. Thanks in anticipation (maybe I have had too much beer this afternoon - and evening is fast approaching and I am ready for my prime rib
LOL with Stilla. Me too! (drinking beer)
But yep, you had one too many. It is still making sense to lw, so you have had more than I.
We are just speculating on the latest jw directives given to minimus' mom. Twas an odd thing to "teach", as you know the lit often uses language that is foreign to all but the rank and file active members.
I often think that using confusing terms and explainations keep jw's interested instead of falling asleep.
what could the elders answer those inquiring "Authorities"?
Did she mention what the PO's answer to that is?
It seems to me that if a person is baptized as a JW, and not DAed or DFed, then the organization should recognize them as a "member". To do otherwise would directly contradict their policy to shun ex-members.
It is obvious that they are fishing for a way to deny liability when a "member" gets caught by the authorities doing something illegal. They always want to have their cake and eat it too.
