Here's another song that gives me strength when I hear it. I shared it with an exdub friend and she plays it daily for strength.
    closer to fine

    Indigo Girls

i'm trying to tell you something about my life
maybe give me insight between black and white
and the best thing you've ever done for me
is to help me take my life less seriously
    it's only life after all
    yeah

well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
and lightness has a call that's hard to hear
i wrap my fear around me like a blanket
i sailed my ship of safety till i sank it
    i'm crawling on your shores

i went to the doctor, i went to the mountains
i looked to the children, i drank from the fountains
there's more than one answer to these questions
pointing me in a crooked line
and the less i seek my source for some definitive
(the less i seek my source)
the closer i am to fine
the closer i am to fine

and i went to see the doctor of philosophy
with a poster of rasputin and a beard down to his knee
he never did marry or see a b-grade movie
he graded my performance, he said he could see through me
i spent four years prostrate to the higher mind
got my paper and i was free

i went to the doctor, i went to the mountains
i looked to the children, i drank from the fountains
there's more than one answer to these questions
pointing me in a crooked line
the less i seek my source for some definitive
(the less i seek my source)
the closer i am to fine
the closer i am to fine

i stopped by the bar at 3 a.m.
to seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend
and i woke up with a headache like my head against a board
twice as cloudy as i'd been the night before
and i went in seeking clarity.

i went to the doctor, i went to the mountains
i looked to the children, i drank from the fountains
yeah we go to the doctor, we go to the mountains
we look to the children, we drink from the fountains
yeah we go to the bible, we go through the workout
we read up on revival and we stand up for the lookout
there's more than one answer to these questions
pointing me in a crooked line
the less i seek my source for some definitive
(the less i seek my source)
the closer i am to fine
the closer i am to fine
the closer i am to fine

    this song says it all...

Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street

    You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
    When I was down
    You just stood there grinning

    You got a lotta nerve
To say you gota helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
    The side that?s winning

You say I let you down
You know it?s not like that
    If you?re so hurt
Why then don?t you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that?s not where it?s at
You had no faith to lose
    And you know it

    I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
    You?re in with

Do you take me for such a fool
    To think I?d make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don?t know to begin with

You see me on the street
    You always act surprised
You say, how are you? good luck
    But you don?t mean it

When you know as well as me
    You?d rather see me paralyzed
Why don?t you just come out once
    And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
    Perhaps I?d rob them

And now I know you?re dissatisfied
With your position and your place
    Don?t you understand
    It?s not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
    I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You?d know what a drag it is
    To see you

How about poetry? I posted this a couple times before but it has probably been a year or more:

    The Journey by Mary Oliver

    One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
    though the voices around you
    kept shouting
    their bad advice - - -
    though the whole house
    began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
    at your ankles.
    'Mend my life!'
    each voice cried.
    But you didn't stop.

You knew what you had to do,
    though the wind pried
    with its stiff fingers
    at the very foundations - - -
    though their melancholy
    was terrible.It was already late
    enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
    branches and stones.

    But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
    the stars began to burn
    through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice,
    which you slowly
    recognized as your own,
    that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
    into the world,
    determined to do
the only thing you could do - - - determined to save
the only life you could save.

When I was getting ready to bolt the organization, the Elton John song This Train Don't Stop There Anymore came to mind. I thought it would have been great to perform the song at our congregation talent show, get up, hand deliver my letter of DA to the PO, give a big bow, and walk off into the sunset.

    you may not believe it
but i don't believe in miracles anymore
and when i think about it
i don't believe i ever did for sure
all the things i've said in songs
all the purple prose you bought from me
    reality's just black and white
    the sentimental things i'd write
never meant that much to me

i used to be the main express
all steam and whistles heading west
picking up my pain from door to door
    riding on the storyline
    furnace burning overtime
    but this train don't stop,
    this train don't stop,
this train don't stop there anymore

you don't need to hear it
but i'm dried up and sick to death of love
if you need to know it
i never really understood that stuff
all the stars and bleeding hearts
all the tears that welled up in my eyes
never meant a thing to me
read 'em as they say and weep
i've never felt enough to cry

    when i said that i don't care
it really means my engine's breaking down
the chisel chips my heart again
the granite cracks beneath my skin
i crumble into pieces on the ground

MIke come on now! You can't stop the music!

Just Leave Me With The Pride

    Gary Kemp, Spandau Ballet

Build on rock or build on sand,

they're never gonna lend a hand

so nothing grows or nothing stands

    I can't take anymore, I can't take anymore

there's not a lot of space for me

but I still got my dignity

I've got my price don't say I'm free

    I can't take anymore, I can't take anymore

and I'm hungry- I could eat anything

and I'm hungry- ooh, let's dance, oh let's swing

and I that I hear are the words that she sings

    I can't take anymore, I can?t take anymore

Just leave me with the pride that I worked for

now they've taken the reason away

just leave me with the pride that I worked for, today

I'd rather take this cure for life

    than make myself a sacrefice

when living is to pay the price

    I can't take anymore, I can't take anymore

It takes a while to understand

when you eyes are full of sand

and only time is in your hands

I cant take anymore, I can't take anymore

and I'm hungry- I could eat anything

and I'm hungry- ooh, let's dance, oh let's swing

and I that I hear are the words that she sings

    I can't take anymore, I can?t take anymore

Just leave me with the pride that I worked for

now they've taken the reason away

just leave me with the pride that I worked for, today
