Farkel V Minimus - Lets talk

Just recently the forum has seen some posts relating to these two prominent members of the forum. We have the thread about Farkel being a genius, and the thread where Farkel and Minimus have a bit of a "shebang" (that's NW England talk - excuse me).

The thing is, I honestly think that both of these people are becoming a little bit too enthralled with their own importance.

Farkel's "concerned about minimus" thread was a deliberate jibe at Minimus, and Minimus clearly is p**sed off with Farkel's comments.

Overall I think that Farkel has outstanding talent and intelligence, however he is harsh and obviously has some personal problems (as do I, and many of us). Minimus is a great contributor to the forum, but he appears shallow and sycophantic.

Lets get the whole issue out of the way. I don't know about you but I'm fed up of reading the tit for tat childish posts from these two.

Yep, many of us agree and that there have been threads deliberately started to fan the flames. You will see that my own comment on the thread you mentioned was to highlight that I'd been missing for as long a period too but we didn't need a thread to announce it!

I think we should all get this straight: if any thread is started now to further the situation, it will be locked as soon as possible.

You've made the situation clear as far as moderators on the forum. I agree with that.

HOWEVER. Why do you think the situation has escalated as it has? I know everyone thinks that minimus and Farkel are great, but at the end of the day this must reflect their own difficulties; that they have to air their grievances here.

I like them both believe me. I just don't like them being like this.

I am with you -- the feud has made for some discomfort on the board. IMHO, it should never have gotten this far, and I am disappointed not only that it has, but that it got this far PUBLICLY. This should have been something that was either nipped in the bud early, or taken to pm early. I'm sorry it didn't, because I happen to like both of these posters, but I can plainly see that I don't like the combination of both of them in the same thread. Too bad someone, including anyone who posted on the threads, didn't rally to have it shut down sooner. I only read the threads and didn't post on them, but that makes me no less guilty for not seeing that the whole board had a "show" for everyone to watch. It was anything but entertaining, and in fact, has changed my image of several people. Too bad it had to get to this point. I hope it can be resolved soon and that something like this does not happen in the future.

I just wonder what exactly is so interesting about poor old minimus, LOL! Jee, maybe it would be nice to see Shamus threads plowing all over the place.... NOT.

I think another person started a thread kinda like this one already about these two? I think bringing more attention to this isn't helpful, because the real problem is attention seeking on the board. Why else would there be a need for flaming or fighting or asking everybody what they think of them or their political ideas... Granted, it's hard not to feel pretty much ignored on a board this big at times, but it's always the same people, it seems, with all the drama and attention.

If attention is what you need, the only way you're going to get it on a forum this big is by being disruptive. I would be surprised if there was no attention grabbing flame fests on a board this busy, there's always somebody who needs to be the center of attention. I think I can overlook a little of that now and then, but it gets boring after awhile.

minimus and farkel are great, intelligent and caring, but even more so without all the drama.
