The family thing is so hard, and it NEVER goes away. When you are 'born in', then leave, it just never ends.
I haven't been to a family gathering since I was 20 , since my family are mostly 'in'. The only things I am invited to are funerals, I kid you not. And I don't bother, although sometimes I go to the visitation.
And you're right, no amount of talking is going to get through to him.

I was talking to my wife this morning and we BOTH had similar dreams last night about being at a convention and seeing many people we knew from years ago. While at the convention, it was clear that this was such bullcrap! Now, that is WEIRD to have almost identical dreams, isn't it? By the way, it's the first one I can recall that I'VE had about the "brothers and sisters". My wife has them almost everynight. We think because of this latest episode regarding our niece and daughter, we're in the same zone.
my cousin "thought" he overheard that my daughter and her fiance smoked "weed", he declined to go to my (formerly disfellowshipped) niece's anniversary party!!!!!
How nice of him to rely on gossip and slander instead of applying the Scriptures to clear up the issue between you and him.
You mentioned his previous inactivity and a sudden burst of new-found zeal. It sounds to me like he's got a guilty conscience about something and is trying to cover it up. It's a typical shame-based cycle that a lot of folks get caught in. Have you ever noticed that the ones who preach the loudest against certain vices are mostly preaching to their own weaknesses?

Personally, although he is married, I do think he's gay. All of his employees are said to be gay, too. But I don't think he smokes "weed".

You know how Maury Povitch sometimes confronts people about their "secrets" by getting them to do a lie-detector test?? Just a thought... wouldn't wish that on his wife though. Damn.
Many times when witnesses leave the cult.......it's the attitude of those ...still in the cult....that now convinces those leaving, that they were definately in a cult. The witnesse's actions toward those who leave......often will cause others to leave. They are very good at destroying themselves.

If my daughter ever knew what was happening------I don't know what we'd do! Imagine being troubled by thinking they smoked something....Gee, what would happen if they ever talked about what they do behind closed doors.......
