Quite a few of the Assembly of God do too. In some AoG congregations the policy is nearly identical to the shunning policy of JWs except the offenses will be known to all and voted on by the congregation members, but if they rule against the person they are totally shunned--friends, family, everyone.

    Desib, welcome first off!

A very interesting topic.. Many fundamentalist do use some sort of shunning.

And the Catholic Church excommunicates, but rarely.

On a broader scale, I don't believe there is very much at all that is truly unique to the Jw's.

They seem to borrow most of their doctrine from good ol' babylon the great. They just tweak it to make it their own.

The only thing that really sets them apart from most churches, is their willingness to judge in place of god, and their secrecy as to finances (such as televangilists do).

Scientology use the term 'disconection". Other religions do practice this.
