First Annual Race to Stop the Silence

ANNOUNCING the first annual National Race to Stop the Silence: Stop Child Sexual Abuse scheduled for April 17, 2004 in Washington, D.C. Child sexual abuse (CSA) is not one group's problem; by expert accounts, it is a silent epidemic throughout the United States and the world, creating social havoc -- for the children, adults survivors, and society. It can be prevented and it can be treated -- with your help.

Let's raise awareness and funding to address this issue. Please come to Washington, D.C. to participate in the race/run/walk. Or, if you cannot, go to the Website and donate to the event and programming. Or buy the various and beautiful types of one-of-a-kind pins that have been specially developed for this cause (Stop the Silence ribbon pins and Safe Family pins, as well as Little People Pins) by nationally recognized wearable art designer Lucinda Yates. All profits go to programming. As the Race grows into other communities, both nationally and internationally, profits from the Race will be going to support growing numbers of organizations -- nationally and internationally -- that are doing important work on various fronts on the issue of CSA: in treatment for victims and survivors, policy development, training of service providers, awareness raising and education, and research and evaluation.

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!

Seems SILENTLAMBS has, indeed, joined forces with the STOP THE SILENCE group and lambs everywhere are invited by BB to attend this race/walk in Washington, DC on 4-17-04! The lambs will be walking the 5k and carrying the 10-foot SL banner we held in NY! :-)

See the new thread about it here, with all updated info from Silentlambs: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/68497/1.ashx

(I tried to merely update this thread by changing title, etc. but it wouldn't let me so I made a brand new thread).

    This is great news kids!

If any of us can't make Nashville, we have a 2nd chance in a short time-frame to still do something for abuse survivors!
