I never understood why many Jehovah’s Witnesses will say “the friends”. It seems so Mormon like.

I noticed that in some congregations they regularly use that expression whereas in others you never hear it. Usually I hear of the brothers. And I think of the Aryan Nation.

I mostly heard them say "the brothers." Cult/groupthink red flag right there.

Like the mafia says "the family" it's never a good sign to be referred to in the collective.

In India they would say brothers and Sisters. In USA, Friends.

I was annoyed about this when I came to USA as I felt somewhat worldly to refer as Friends.

    MINIMUS:

    Yeah, some friends!

But they were no friends of mine. In fact, with "friends" like these you didn't need any enemies.
