Jw always tout how much attention they give to details when in comes to their imagery. They claim to research everything about it. The images in their study WT are also crafted very meticulously to convey hidden rules and guilt in the smallest details.

I wouldn't put it past them to select an image that resembles a cross on purpose. Most JW will never notice and otherwise it can be denied....and to (other) Christians the image will subconsciously make them feel more connected to the topic....

But there's a big gap between 'wouldn't put it past them' and 'I think they did'...

If it's a stock photo then yeah it was carefully chosen.

If you have too much time on your hands, you can write an entire thesis on any image found on the internet.

There are so many other serious REAL issues with the JW's to be concerned about without getting consumed with conspiracy theories like this.

We don't want to look as nutty as the JW's are by analysing every little word or image.

Concentrate on the BIG issues....promotion of shunning, splitting families up, cult mind control, hiding abuse, preventing further education, extraction of money and resources from members, and constantly changing the goalposts regarding armmagedon etc.

Next people will be analysing any pictures of the sky in WT publications and making shapes out of clouds.

Why does a prisoner need handcuffs chained to the bars while inside a prison cell? Unless it was like this in the Three Amigos I could understand.

@NBD ...and saw this image that appears to represent Christian persecution by showing handcuffs in front of prison bars that appear to form a cross.

This is a thumbnail preview on the main page; it is very difficult to see a cross on the full photo (below)

@NBD ...or maybe it was clip art from another source and they didn't notice

    Yep

@SD If it's a stock photo then yeah it was carefully chosen.

Depositphotos (where they mainly take photos) >> search term "prison/тюрьма" >> the first page

Photos 1 and 2 were used on the site. I think it's not necessary to explain why almost all other images are inappropriate.

It's time to stop making mountains out of molehills.

It’s not a mountain out of a molehill to suspect that the WTBTS deliberately chose a photo with the public in mind.

When it comes to PR, the WTBTS is very skillful. It’s also worth remembering that they have zero issues with deceiving anyone if it suits them.

Sério mesmo galera, que tão discutindo isso? Depois não querem ser chamados de mentalmente doentes?

Oh Jesus, the local site team used this image in 2 of nearly 50 articles published on the site during this summer. It's one of the first appropriate stock photos they found. Finally, do you really think those very few Christians and non-believers browsing this site don't know who JWs are and will be deceived by a thumbnail (apart from the fact that not every person would even see a cross on it)? Is it really a big deal?
