I found this waiting for me when I woke up...thought you'd like it

    Christmas Present

In the corner stands a tree, bejeweled with light and glass

In silent glory sings a song, of celebrations past

Beneath the tree, the floor is bare, save for the snowman skirt

The time is short till Santa comes, with Christmas Eve it seems we?ll flirt

Its said it is the thought that counts, and thoughts to give abound

But the wallet?s thin and the coffers bare, as the what we wish; was snow covered ground

A white Christmas and a pile of gifts, is what I wish for mine

For those I love deserve the best, to laugh and love and shine

I think today I?ll shake the trees, of those who me do owe

With what falls out, I?ll buy those gifts, and pray to God for snow

Whatever it takes has never been, an obstacle for me

You see I?m making up for seasons lost, when I was less, than all, to three

My three are four and my world is warm, no matter what?s under the tree

If nothing else we?re all at home my wife my kids and me

    Seasons Change

A silvery mist clings tenaciously to the Sunday morning start.

Sunshine has taken a backseat to excessive dew points.

A chill in the air speaks to the change of season and the approach of my favorite time of year.

    I?m a winter.

I live for the embrace of leaded gray sky and the bite of a chill wind.

Trees, flowers and plants, enjoy their seasons long.

It is to days like this that they finally yield and seek their winter?s rest.

Colors change, leaves fall and petals wilt. Foliage shed as sweaters donned.

A satiny sheet, of moisture covers all, muting colors, softening hard edges.

The world sounds closer this time of year. Does that make sense?

I step outside my door, coffee in hand and watch as wisps of steam rise spirit like into the air.

I exhale a plume of the same, and inhale cool crisp morning air that refreshes my soul.

Crocus breach the garden soil and bloom beside the withered leaves of the hostas.

Leaves red and gold tumble across the lawn on their way to a final resting place.

I picture the lawn covered in a white blanket of snow,

strings of lights arranged along the roofline and porch posts.

Soon it will be time to set up the tree.

My hands begin to ache from the cold as it seeps into my flesh.

My coffee is gone, my cup cold.

    Time for a refill.

"The world seems closer this time of year".

I love that...When after a snow during the night, I step out to investigate, and for one timeless moment, the world is still.....I find those moments rare and beautiful.
