over the last year a very important thing happened here in the states, the do not call list.

no more bothersome calls from sales people at dinner time trying to sell you stuff you dont want or need.

now there is legislation in the works to do the same for your inbox, shutting down the spammers.

i cant tell you how many emails i get to have bigger boobs. amongst other "get bigger" odities

you just know this will go through.

my thinking is, after that what is left?

a do not knock at my door uninvited list? maybe no more mormans and jehoovers?

and after that, not more junk snail mail?

thats the kind of stuff i'd like to see and end to. although we don't get jehoover knocking at our door here, none in 2 years, i'd love to have a place to register and say, yep, don't come knocking at my door, or it will cost ya!

anywho, just ramblings of an ex-jw in the great state of RI.

I wonder if "do not call" could also be construed to mean "do not call at my door." Before they used the internet they used the phone, before they used the phone they knocked at your door. Might be interesting to see if anyone will take this and test it out. If they block spammers from our phones and from our computers, could marketers all decide that they should come to your house with their spiel?

If you can stretch it to -do not call at my door... I don't see why religious spam is any different than any other kind.

You know it strikes me funny that the witnesses are so anti-computer, when all this time they could have hit billions of computers with their message (spam). Could have been a religious variation of the Howard Dean phenomena.

I need to drink my coffee and wake up.

Unfortunately, current Supreme Court precedent appears to make such a list rather unlikely. (Remember Watchtower v. Stratton?) However, according to the same court decision, "No Solicitation" signs must be obeyed.

So as long as you can put a physical sign on your physical door, I don't think there's any need for a list.

Hell, you can already do this without going through a registry. Just put a sign on your door:

Elsewhere, buddy you know you should make stickers like that for our doors and maybe they would get the message. They have to look like decent stickers.

Or maybe you know of someone who could make stickers like this?

    What do you think??
