Jhine, I hope you didn't think I said this, I looked back at my post and didn't see that at all.

    God isn't dead.

She had questions specifically about bible verses that she had asked her pastor about. He did not provide any answers from his religion's viewpoint. I never used any WT publications with her, just from her bible and just asking open-ended viewpoint questions. I did not talk about WTS doctrines, nor did I direct her answer. Her bible study group had similar questions, that is why she wanted them to see the answers from their bible. Most WTS comments are without merit, but they do have some correctly based on the bible. She could see that. I have found that some church members have questions about teachings in their own religion, without a bible basis being provided. I'm glad that is not going on with your church. Blondie , no you never said that God is dead . You made the comment that " the amount of regular church going people has decreased a great deal " . I know that many see this ( and some hope ) that religion is dying out , that people are leaving behind the primitive belief in the flying spaghetti monster and that rationality is breaking out in humanity.

My rather clumsy comment was a reply to those people.

It's interesting that you say that the WT does get some Biblical interpretation correct . What are the things that you think there are correct about ? How were you able to help that lady ?

Tbh l do tend to think that the Witnesses have most stuff wrong . I am happy to be put straight on that .

Yes, the WTS has very little that is correct; in print they at least try to put on a good face; forgetting how easy it is for non-jws to get ahold of the "secret" books/info on the internet. Some religions are seeing a decrease. I don't try to determine that by one congregation or faith. Some are seeing increase. It went well with the lady. She loved having me come, I did warn her that not many jws stick by the scriptures. In my quest to find a group, I realized that the WTS is not the only one that has updated their teachings. Or also see themselves as the only true religion. I just keep my faith personal, not needing a human go-between. I don't really care about bible interpretation, who can know the mind of god? I focused on how to treat people like Jesus did and study those points, and then ask her could she see ways she could do that or do more of. That was the start of my exit from the Watchtower organization. Blondie

    PEACEFUL PETE:

I get your sarcasm but I see somebody gave you a downvote (unless it was a fat fingered mistake).

When I was new in the Jehovah’s Witness religion and right before baptism - it was suggested that I write a letter to the Catholic Church telling them to remove me from their rolls because I was becoming a Jehovah’s Witnesses.. Well, I hope the Catholics didn’t really do that because I ended up getting out of the Witnesses!

To be honest, I really only viewed my infant baptism in Catholicism as ‘valid’. At least it came with a document that can be used for ID purposes!
