The U.K. to start trials in a new synthetic blood substitute. All previous versions have failed to gain regulatory approval, but perhaps this one will offer a way out for Jehovah's Witnesses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I7oUuZBG4c

So now we have a possible reason for the recent push to have those DPA documents signed and on file

    Thanks for posting this Lee

Let's see. JWs are forbidden from using whole blood unless it comes from cows. But these stem cells ultimately came from humans so what is the WT likely to say? But wait, we're not supposed to take blood from humans and animals therefore...........

but wait.... You CAN get fractions from human blood.....

Unless, of course the HLC arranges for the compassionate use of the artificial blood made from human blood, Polyheme. Which they have done on occasion

Isn't this from over a year ago? June 2015?

Lee Elder: We would welcome that development. That said, however, it would require a substantial reform of the current policy which forbids the use of red cells.

Has anything changed in your view?

This was indeed about a year ago. For the WTS to allow the use of material derived from embryonic stem cells would require a shift in policy:

    Aw 02 11/22 pp9-10

For example, consider the debate over human embryonic stem cells. As we have seen, these are obtained at the cost of a live embryo. Regarding the ethical conflict this creates, Francis Collins, director of the National Human Genome Research Institute in the United States, said: “It is a classic example of a collision between two very important principles. One is the sanctity of human life and the other is our strong mandate as human beings to alleviate suffering and to treat terrible diseases . . . Many people feel, I think justifiably, this type of research is taking liberties with the notion of the sanctity of human life, by manipulating cells derived from a human embryo

But Hey -Ho, they merrily change everything else, so why not?

The WTS has gotten themselves out of many doctrinal ideas/jams by just re-inventing it and saying that holy spirit adjusted or clarified it.

Amen, blondie... that is the WT's M.O. : "clarification" & "adjustment"

    I thought 'God's chariot' was fast! ?

Seems as tho the H.S. takes it's time 'clarifying', haha!
