New tasks for the shipping department at Bethel Selters

the publishing committee of the Governing Body has decided that all the work in connection with the shipping of magazines and literature that performed in England, will in the future be handled by the Bethel Selters. The shipping activity in our branch office is thus to increase by about 50 percent. We will have jurisdiction for 1,942,000 publishers in 101 countries and territories. Magazines and Literature will be packed with us and sent then for 25 300 congregations across Europe, Central Asia and West Africa.

To cope with all these tasks and other additional work, we need another young unmarried brothers, to be for a year or more in the bethel service. In this way it will be possible for our brothers to serve many other countries. We invite all who wish to make it possible to promote this special service. An application form can be received by the brothers of the congregation service committee. We would be very happy if you could help us in many work here in Bethel. We look forward to the new tasks and are convinced that Jehovah will bless the Efforts of his servants.

So that indicates a reduction in the British branch and their bid for world domination.

not much of a carbon footprint then, to these 1.9 million publishers and 101 countries and 25k congregations, I wonder it they realise how much of this gets dumped in the trash?

So without a referendum WT pulling Britain out of Europe (joke)

Seriously many in Mill Hill dreading the letter telling them they are redundant. Does this mean more changes to Chelmsford plans as Shipping dept redundant? More space not needed for dept and the workers.

Interesting. So they are building a new branch for what? Presumably the British branch will continue to ship literature for the UK and Ireland. I wonder what will happen with Malta as that was always really close with the British Bethel?

so what exactly is done in Mill Hill, just book bindery? the rags are printed in Selters as well aren't they ?

As the letter just says that shipping will move to Selters, it may be that printing will stay in UK. Consolidation goes on....

What I find most interesting is the fact, that they kicked out 25% of their workers and are now searching for young men.

So, the WT is saving costs, to ship all mags/literature to save shipping costs to have Selters to turn around and ship to 101 countries,???

What otherwise 'books' do they print in England branch now?? What 'works' are being done there in England now?? Why is all this priority building being done now in Britain?

Seems there is such helter-skelter manic operations in the WT. A struggling to survive?? Could the Britain "charity status" be threatening??

The WT.org can always rely on its members to jump for them to work for free and save a dime for their leadship as they to try to brace up the tottering organization.

Less work means more properties to sell in England... more money for Watchtowerland's paradise.

Perhaps volunteer labor doesn't have as many rights and expenses in Germany?

Perhaps they are preparing to lose charity status.
