"It will be a tough pill to swallow for old timers that sacrificed many relationships by not partaking in these customs.

Maybe that’s why they are doing the slow rollout of changes"

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually went the suburban mega-church route. People show up on sunday in jeans. The speakers are "hip" young guys who give generic pop-psychology advice with some sort of supporting bible verse sprinkled on top to maintain the facade that it's a legit religion instead of a money grift. The music is crappy "Jesus themed" copies of current popular music trends.

Lightgrowsbrighter - “…followers are trained to be told how to act instead of recognizing Christian freedom (Gal. 1), and make decisions based on love, not a long list of rules.”

    A good tip to remember…

…if a long list of rules is the only way your religion can maintain its legitimacy…

    …it’s not real legitimacy.

I would say most of the holiday things are on the list; it's hard to say when they will stop.

Halloween will be off the table, for obvious reasons.

Vidiot I looked it up and they still used the term “Babylonish practices” in the Isaiah books at the turn of the millennium.

Some of the GB said some years ago that there are more then 70 changes on the bookshelf. So they know the changes years ahead.

    Hi Gorb

I think that was Geoffrey Jackson on a update. But can you remember more of it?

I'm curious if I can pin it down.

I don’t remember anyone saying 70 changes but I do remember (vaguely) one of the GB describing a lengthy process for any change to be agreed and then announced. Ironically perhaps it was Tony Morris who said this, not sure. Or maybe Mark Sanderson or David Splane. I think David Splane was the one who made the weird comment about “we love this new teaching brothers” to some esoteric tweak they made. It’s so much more difficult to track down these phrases in the video era. (Though no doubt AI could easily search all the videos, and other useful features, shortly before they eliminate humans entirely.)

Rhetorical Question: Why would they make any future statement about Birthdays, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, or any of the other things we are thinking of?

They already told you that a mature person doesn't need to reach for mommy's hand to cross the street. They told you a mature Christian only needs principles. We should all take them at their word. Celebrate what you want to.

Per Lett's rule #2; keep it to yourself. Don't broadcast.

Yes, I think a number already follow this, more so with birthdays than Christmas though.
