I was reading a new article about pornography on the official Watchtower web site at

    http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2002/7/8a/article_01.htm

and it closes with this statement: "It undermines efforts to do good and have a clean conscience."

But what if pornography did not offend your conscience, would your conscience still be clean? Surely that is the whole point about conscience, it tells you what is right and wrong, and if it's not wrong in your book, you have a clean conscience? It may be the role of many churches to try to mold peoples consciences but at the end of the day, to say don't do something because it will offend the conscience we gave you is not in itself a good reason on it's own merits.

It's just another rule, Ballistic. Also, they are running out of things to talk about. Why not have an Awake! with an annual article on pornography.

Personally, it doesn't bother me one bit!

They mean it offends their conscience and, because they are 'self righteous', they are determined that you should damn well be offended too whether it really offends you or not.

It all comes down to individual standards and boundaries as to what porn is.

Of course, the WT and Awake magazine would themselves be viewed as porn in other cultures where oncovered women are shocking.

Another theory is that they use the word "Pornography", "sex" and "lust" as much as possible on their site to get more hits.

All I can say is thank God for the internet where such things would never be allowed.

I don't know what pornography is.

Do you think they could do a whole issue in glossy paper to explain to me what exactly pornography is?

    Enquiring minds want to know!

This reminds me of the doctrine of "This Movie is Condemned",it was a list that the Catholic School had on their Bulletin Board in the hallway when I went to Catholic School as a boy.How did the Priest's know that a certain movie should be condemned.

How does the Society know what is pornography, who is in charge of watching what .Of cause we all know what porn is etc.
