I've read a bit about this before.
Yes, a good proportion of Lebanese consider themselves of Canaanite or 'Phoenician' heritage, not Arab.
Others consider themselves Arab. There is apparently a national debate about this, according to what I remember reading.
Lebanese are certainly culturally and linguistically Arab, having been conquered by Arab Muslim hordes centuries ago.
