Why "Removed" instead of "Disfellowshipped or Shunning"

If they aren't members anymore, then how are they even "removed". Removal implies that they were members in the the first place, but they're not allowed to even claim that anymore. Seriously: "individuals"?? "Unpaid drones" or "compelled donors" might be better classifications.

As I see it, this is part of Bethel's game of "What's in it for the Great Crowd?" And their answer ultimately boils down to "Not much". 😔 They're not even members anymore.

The Watchtower is trying to find a way to be less offensive without compromising too much. Now you can have beards, talk to ex members and women can wear slacks. A friend of mine who brother is at the world headquarters says birthday celebrations and blood transfusions will eventually become a "conscience" matter.

Blood transfusions becoming a "conscience" matter.

They truly have a tiger by the tail with this one.

Its just one of those hardcore, controversial JW doctrines I just cant see disappearing.

    BLONDIE:

Whatever they did I am sure was for legal reasons.

    WING COMMANDER:

Yes, the religion very sneakily changed the baptism question then.. If anybody wasn’t paying attention they wouldn’t have realized they were giving loyalty to an organization.👎

I was baptized in the old days before they pulled this fast one!!

It is an odd choice, because it still suggests an action imposed from outside upon the person. WHO is the one doing the "removing"?

I suppose the GB might claim "it refers to God removing the person not us", but that's not how most people from outside will view it.

In fact, as said previously, it sounds even MORE sinister than "disfellowshipping" - like the JW equivalent of "rubbing someone out"!

"Where's Dave? Oh, he's been... removed... from the congregation."

I believe that it was in 1985 the Borg sneakily changed this baptism question.

I was baptized about 5 years after.

But,,, at that point I didnt know the Borg did this in 1985.

Many probably still aren't aware in 2025 the Borg pulled this fast one.
