April Wine is playing this Friday, and I really wanted to go. My truck broke down, plus I'm working at my part-time job this Friday night.

Today, my fiance visited me during lunchhour and brought a surprise for me: 2 tickets to April Wine. She put herself in a bit of a financial goof to get these tickets. I would call in sick on Friday, but I already did that this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. I need my second job so I can survive, and if I call in sick, they're not going to buy it. I therefore risk losing my job.

She handed me the envelope and wrote "I Love You" on the back of it. She thought I would be ecstatic with the tickets. I told her that I didn't know if I was working on Friday. She left and seemed somewhat hurt.

Now I have 2 April Wine tickets that I can't use. They are $10 a piece. It would be a shame for the money to just go to waste. In actuality, she should've known that I would most likely be working on Friday since I usually do.

Any suggestions of what I can do?

what a shame about the tickets. Bet it would be a decent concert too. Although I only remember one hit song by them personally but I really did like it.

Hope you can find somene to purchase the tickets if you can't go.. and even more so, find a way so she understands and isn't hurt you can't go.

Well, she is probably more disapointed than hurt. It's not your fault you have to work, and it's not her fault she forgot to think of that...I'm sure she was just really excited to get a present she knew you'd enjoy.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it's quickly forgotten.

Anyway you can get a co-worker to cover your shift?

It's a fast food joint. Try finding someone to cover a Friday 8:00pm to 4:00am shift, let alone someone who has nothing to do on Friday night and is dying to see April Wine. It's damn near impossible.

The only thing I can think of is to give the tickets back to her and ask if she can take one of her friends.

As YOU suggest, give her back the tickets and let her take a friend or let her give the tickets to someone else. Your hands will be free of blood, yours!

Well, I know what I would do - call in sick & find another fast food joint to work the 8:00 PM - 4:AM shift But, I don't always do the smartest things.

Hmmm well since I've been blown off by guys a time or two maybe I have a little insight as to how she will feel. Fast food isn't exactly a career job. Flipping burgers means more to you than her. Plus it wouldn't be as though you're the only fast food employee that isn't reliable.

Yep she'll find someone to go with. And you'll drop a notch or two in her esteem ladder.

You'll really have to make it up to her.

    Nos,

Explain things to your girl the way you have to us. Let her help you decide what to do. Certainly if your relationship is a good, strong one it will survive the April Wine Crisis.

Stacy makes some good points there ^ . Wow, Stace that is a real website. You crack me up, girl.

    PS

$10 a piece? I paid $50 a piece for tickets to see Neil Young.
